Josh Allen: another young & dumb Millenial ..

Recommended Posts

Offensive tweets sent by Wyoming QB Josh Allen when he was in high school were uncovered by Yahoo Sports.

The tweets, all from 2012 and 2013, include use of the "N" word, and he responded to an AskFM question by saying, "If it ain't white, it ain't right." Allen has since apologized for the tweets, telling ESPN he was young and dumb when he sent them. Allen is in play to be the No. 1 overall pick on Thursday night.
So, Josh - did you FORGET that I think 2/3 of the NFL players are African American?!
Millenials and the on-going stupidity of not realizing (caring?) that what you put on the internet is there FOREVER..

Just asking you a question?

What do you think should be done to him about this issue?

If I was a GM, I'd be more concerned with the context and if this was a pattern that continued. Did he say these things as a Freshman? Senior? Did it continue in college? Was it part of some flame war, or did he just randomly open and up tweet racist things. Did he get smarter and realize this was a stupid viewpoint? Or did he get smarter and realize he couldn't share this viewpoint with the world at large ..

At least there wasn't twitter when I was in high school. Otherwise there would probably tweets like PecosRattlers1337 "Commodore 64's are the best. I'll never give up that pure hacking tool!" out there and I'd never live that down.

That is up to the locker room of the team he lands with, and what the 2/3 / majority of his teammates decide to do.

How much do you think it will hurt his value?

I shouldn't be surprised considering how much money is involved with the NFL draft, but what a cut-throat business it is? It's very possible that someone connected to Mayfield, Darnold or Rosen sat on this story until the day before the draft and then unleashed it. For argument's sake, let's say Allen would have been drafted 5th by the Broncos but now he falls to the Bengals at 21. The difference between those two spots will probably be in the neighborhood of $15 million. Conversely, a guy like Rosen who might have been the fourth QB taken if this story hadn't surfaced, could now be the third QB taken earning him several millions more.

We had a black president that rallied folks against white people as an agenda. In politics, you don't have to be good at your job to win people over. Just polarizing.

In football, if he is good at his job, everyone will follow along as other players all put money and winning first in life. Who honestly cares what some teenage kid says online? Personally I feel so sorry for kids growing up in the online world. But they will have to grow up with each other and deal with it.

Really, it's Obama's fault? Some kid is saying racist crap in high school and that's Obama's fault?

Probably yes. He divided the country and reverted it back 80 years in that area.

Josh Allen will probably get drafted #1 overall. If he is good in the pros, noone will care about what he tweeted at age 17.

And I agree that kids are idiots. They always have been. Just nowadays, they tell the world they are idiots rather than just those physically around them.

And if all you people here think that there are no black players in the NFL that are racist against whites or mexicans, you are kidding yourselves. But, they all want money and winning. That means more to them than anything else at this time in their lives.

Oh. Maybe he wasn't 17. He was in high school. So he could have been 14. What do you guys want to do with him? Keep him from getting into the league? Let's start digging into all players when they were 9-16 even. Oh the joy.

Herm Edwards might not be that great of a head coach, but he could also be one of the smartest sob's of all time.

He said you don't need more than 1 girl. You don't need more than 1 house or car. You don't need more than 1 gun. Nothing good happens after midnight. Save whatever money you make in this business.

And for the love of god. DON'T HIT SEND.

Brilliant. And I get it and keep it simple as well. But unfortunately I think that is lost on most people under 30. Sad. Hence, such a large rate of bankruptcies of ex nfl players.

Yeah so how good?

If someone is real good at something that does mean we should just dismiss the wrong that they do, but hold other's accountable for the wrongs they do because they aren't as good?

The dude was 14 at the time. The things he tweets are almost all song lyrics as evidenced by the quotes and one of them is a quote from modern family. ohhh and did i mention he was 14? Anyone who is trying to make this out as anything other than a BOY talking has an agenda or is STUPID.

I wonder if he was listening to NWA's F... the Police?

It's confirmed. He was. And I still don't know what NWA stands for though. I'm thinking it is short for Nice With A lot bunny hugs. NWA.

What does NWA stand for anyway? And I wonder if 14 year olds listen to their music? How could they, right?

Gee, is it a bad word that the entertainment community is selling to children?

Looking back, Allen grew up in a town that had a 1% African American population per the 2010 census with a population of about 8000 people in central California. Having grown up in a similar sized town, with a similar lack of diversity, I can tell you it's pretty easy to find yourself not relating to anything other than your own race. So I'm not willing to brand him a racist/homophobe/jerk etc based on social media comments he made as a HS senior.

I'm guessing that in his time in D1 football at Wyoming, the racial makeup of his peer group changed significantly and probably gave him his first real exposure to the culture of another race. Seeing as how there were no issues discovered during his college playing days I would tend to chalk this up to small-town small-minded youthful thinking that he's since outgrown.

He'll will certainly have to explain this to his new teammates, the majority of which will be African-American. He'll have to go above and beyond what a typical rookie QB would have to do in order to be a leader in the locker room and on the field. It can certainly be done if he's willing to make the effort and is successful on the field as well. He'll get a fair chance to prove he's not the person that posted those messages, but I think the locker room could easily turn on him if he doesn't address the issue with some honest discussion.

Wyoming as a state is 85% white. You really think his peer group changed that much?

Jeez. He will be fine. How many black players on the team said conedscending things about white people when they were 15 years old? Get over it. They will.

I venture to guess the racial makeup of most division one football teams does not accurately reflect the racial makeup of the state it represents.
