vuduchile 1,941 Posted June 27, 2018 Serious lack on Born on the 4th of July in here. He deserved an Oscar for that performance. But I have a hard time calling the movie good. In fact, Ive never watched it a second time. Its way too depressing.

Hardcore troubadour 12,636 Posted June 27, 2018 Top gun. A few good men was my favorite of his all time, but it was 90s. I used to love that movie ( afgm) until after repeated viewings I realized how anti-military it was. Will still watch it, but with new eyes.
titans&bucs&bearsohmy! 2,745 Posted June 27, 2018 I used to love that movie ( afgm) until after repeated viewings I realized how anti-military it was. Will still watch it, but with new eyes. I dont really see it that way at all. Yeah, some bad stuff happened in the military and an officer tried to cover his ass. Eventually, through the military system of justice, justice was done. And the offenders were booted out as dishonorable, even though they were under orders. The defendants learned respect for cruise, and a new appreciation for what a soldier is supposed to stand for. Thats all we expect from cops and soldiers. Yeah, sh!ts gonna get done wrong from time to time. Just own it and try to fix it going forward.
Hardcore troubadour 12,636 Posted June 27, 2018 Aaron Sorkin. Nuff said. All the Marines except the black guy are all flawed or stupid as . The magic negro (it's a thing in movies, look it up) shows his young squire the proper way to human. Contrived garbage. It's also an attack on masculinity, one of the first. TD Ryan2 314 Posted June 27, 2018 30 years later... this music is still an aphrodisiac And in general, the music in many of these Cruise movies is iconic - it'd make a good spinoff thread - music from Rain Man, Cocktail, Risky Business, etc
