Anybody impacted by the shutdown?

Recommended Posts

I'm devastated inside for those who will get holiday time off and get paid for it when they get back.

I hurt for them deeply on the inside.

It feels stingy

There was a cop in California affected by our open border and libtarded immigration system.

Yes. Not me specifically being furloughed but some of my staff. It's a pain in the ass, but also the 3rd one I've gone through so... meh.

We have gotten paid after the fact the last two. Sucks to have to skip a paycheck for several weeks though.

Every career has its pros and cons. I’ll trade the possibility of furlough for your Federal pension.

Yep... no complaints for the most part. It's just focking ridiculous every time it happens. You have two focking jobs congress.. pass bills and a budget. Epic fail on the budget part over and over.

Why would they get paid ? They didnt work. Shouldn't they have to use vacation time?

A lot of these jobs could probably be eliminated as its pretty evident they are non essential.

They cancel all leave. That's what focked me this Christmas. I had flown back from SD to WA taken annual leave from Dec 21st to Jan 2nd to spend time with my kids for Christmas break. During a shut down they cancel all leave. So I ended up having to come into work.

And everyone is essential really.. they just cut staff to emergency services.

I have an uncle who works for HUD and was furloughed. He expects to get back pay but said it sucks to go without a pay check for weeks during the shutdown especially around the holidays.

It's pretty evident you don't know what the fock you're blathering about in this instance. The furloughed are all our admin staff. The folks that get us paid, pay the bills, buy sh!t for us, essentially run the office while we're out kicking doors.

Keep your breaking news talking points going old man.

Sign up for unemployment like people who pay your salaries have to.

I love it when some fockstick spouts about "paying my salary". It's normally when they are going into handcuffs and they have nothing useful to say. Thanks for paying my salary little buddy... watch your head getting in back there.

Oh also I pay a significant amount of taxes... so would that make me my own boss as well?

why not address the valid point of signing up for unemployment?

Do you have a good reason why they should get paid for not working ?

I'd like to hear it.

In a shutdown, federal agencies must discontinue all non-essential discretionary functions until new funding legislation is passed and signed into law. Essential services continue to function

:dunno:

I'm not criticizing you or your position, obviously if you're still working your essential.

I'm criticizing the scam of paying people who don't work and the charade that somehow they are victims.

Is the Meuller investigation considered essential? Like most Feds, they can go home and not many would notice.

Not really... other than it would fock up a pile of lives taking 900000 paychecks out of those families.

That being said... I'm still here... working.. no paycheck for several.

Oh could be a chance you don't get paid for this time Mr. Mmmmm...beer... But your essential... keep working. You'll probably be paid... most likely... eventually...

I get laid off for weeks at a time with only unemployment, so I don't get why these people struggle so much

Nobody knows sh!t about unemployment. They don't even mention it to us. Have a feeling we're not eliguble for it as we're not really laid off. Just told to go home and not get paid.

From the last one.. looks like we can, but will take several weeks to start, and then you have to go through the whole pain in the ass of paying it all back if/when congress retro's your pay.

I wonder if Trump told the NPS to block off the roadside viewing areas of Mt. Rushmore like the last guy did.

Yeah they won't get benefits they can keep because they will be payed for their time off. I would rather have that then the 550 I get a week.

Not to mention that for a lot of these jobs, the work just stacks up. I feel badly for example Park employees who were going to come back to clogged toilets and mountains of trash everywhere.

My family member at HUD said they were required to finish several weeks worth of work in half the time prior to the holiday. That and not getting a paycheck during the holiday and the uncertainty of when he will get a check and get back to work are the major inconveniences.

Lots of people dont have savings to carry them through. What happens to them? How long does this go before tax returns start piling up at IRS?

Yup... great focking question. Our savings only has about 7k... that'll go pretty fast.

Focking OPM really pissed off people in the last couple weeks. They released sample letters... telling us to ask our land lords if we could do chores or cut the grass in lieu of rent. Wtf?! This a fockin joke to you b!tches?

I love how the talking heads still try to blame Chuck and Nancy, when Trump said to blame him himself. This is nobodys fault but Trump, and pretty much every poll supports that.

https://www.politico.com/story/2018/12/19/poll-voters-would-blame-trump-gop-for-shutdown-1068673

Etc etc...
