EternalShinyAndChrome 2,513 Posted January 15, 2019 https://www.cnn.com/2019/01/15/media/netflix-raising-prices/index.html "All three of the company's plans will increase in price by $1-$2. The standard $11 plan, for example, will increase to $13 per month. The price hikes will be applied to all existing members over the next few months. New members will be charged the new price immediately. Its $8 plan will go up to $9 and it's $14 plan will go up to $16 a month." This price hike is the largest in company history. I know all the GC members are millionaires, but at what point do you say stop? I mean, you all didn't become millionaires because you're spending MORE, right? I'm at the point now where I might have to drop a subscription (Hulu, Amazon, whatever etc..) or two. With Game of Thrones debuting in April, that will be another $16 (at least for the subsequent 3 months while GoT is on).

MDC 5,890 Posted January 15, 2019 I get a free subscription to Netflix. My son likes it for kid shows but I think its garbage for movies. Amazon Prime Instant is far better.

DonS 3,067 Posted January 15, 2019 My daughter at college uses our subscription. Supposedly they are supposed to be cracking down on subscription sharing as well. Both of our kids at college use it, but each account is allowed up to 4 users. Hopefully they're not changing that policy along with price increase.

Reality 2,710 Posted January 15, 2019 Yeah, let me just cancel Netflix and be killed in my sleep. This. We use it daily, both kids and the wife. Have the deal with the 4 screens at a time. Use Amazon Prime (other great benefits to Prime, free 2-day delivery, music etc.) as well but, concerning TV, not in the same hemisphere as Netflix.
NorthernVike 2,080 Posted January 15, 2019 Netflix Fiber Optic plan Amazon And I hardly watch TV. Wife and kids do though. I'd love to get rid of them all.
Cruzer 1,992 Posted January 15, 2019 Why? Bcoz they can. Netflix isn't stupid... They see dumbasses shelling out $1100 for iPhones every year - they know there's plenty of gravy to go around, most won't even notice.

GobbleDog 816 Posted January 15, 2019 $11 per month to $13 per month ? Sounds reasonable. But don't most people share Netflix accounts since they give out 4+ subscriptions per customer? My friend gave me a password and said it's so cheap to forget about the money. I assumed most people did that.... get it free from friends or relatives. kutulu 1,545 Posted January 16, 2019 Probably will cancel Netflix at least for awhile. Just cancelled sling, had that mostly for mnf and better call Saul. Been using Hulu quite a bit recently... Will keep for awhile then probably switch back to Netflix and/or sling down the road. AP will keep... We get a ton of crap delivered and watch it quite a bit too. titans&bucs&bearsohmy! 2,745 Posted January 16, 2019 Is the Netflix content sensored? Or is it all behind your VPN? It's all behind the VPN. This is the first year I've had good enough internet in china to try to use it. It works great. Every once in a while, Netflix won't work, as it says it detects a proxy. If I change the location around a bit, it starts working again.

Seems like they are easing up on proxies or something. I've never tried Amazon. I don't buy anything from them honestly. I have a Kindle, but I load it with books I pirate for free.
