CNN

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein expects to be fired Monday, a source tells CNN. He has been summoned to the White House and will meet with chief of staff John Kelly.

Note to self, never jokingly say I'll wear a wire to co-workers to try and get the boss fired.

Wow. Holy unforced error Batman.

This guy has been critical to keeping the Mueller investigation going but couldn't be touched as it was interering with an investigation. Fock with him and it's cut-and-dry obstruction of justice. Until now. Now he's given Trump a legit reason to fire him, even Trump's biggest critics have to admit that.

And Trump's going to take the opportunity. Wow.

This made Trump's day.

Trumps is 100% sure to appoint a lackey to fill this role which, in turn, will get Mueller fired, and in turn trigger a constitutional crisis.

Wow. Unreal.

It's been on Drudge, Breitbart, and Axios for over an hour and all are saying he verbally resigned to John Kelly. Trumps at the UN.

CNN Updated

On Friday, Rod Rosenstein and John Kelly met at the White House in the hours after the story broke and Kelly relayed to the deputy attorney general that the denial he issued earlier in the day was not sufficient. Kelly relayed a command to issue a firmer denial, which is how Friday's second statement came about.

Over the course of the last several days Rod Rosenstein spoke to John Kelly and said that he would resign. A second source says Rosenstein said he was “thinking” of resigning.

The two decided to work it out on Monday, according to the sources. One source said that the White House held off because they were dealing with the Kavanaugh situation this weekend.

There were some matters in dispute including the White House refusing Rosenstein’s conditions regarding the timing of when he would leave on his own terms.

The White House says John Kelly was surprised when Rosenstein called Monday morning to say he is resigning, according to one of the sources.

But Justice officials continue to insist he headed to the White House this morning expected to be fired because he wouldn’t agree to the terms they wanted for him leaving.

When Rosenstein goes, he's going to do a full Saturday Night Massacre like Nixon did. Keep ordering folks to fire Mueller or resign, when they resign, he keeps going and going until he comes to one that will fire Mueller.

Gee not coincidentally at all, the meeting between Trump and Rosenstein has been moved to Thursday. There's nothing going on Thursday right?

Anybody that thinks Russia had more of an impact on the campaign than partisan liberal hacks at Facebook and Google are crazy, but that doesn't matter. If there's an investigation, and that investigation gets thwartedby the guy being investigated, that becomes the scandal.

Trump is too dumb to see this. He's livid that Sessions recused himself but Sessions recusing himself was the honorable thing to prevent imporprieties. Trump thinks firing Mueller solves his problem. Russia is embarassing but survivable, firing Mueller is toxic and 10x worse.
