The best thing about Rubio

Recommended Posts

This may come as a shock to some of you, but I am not a conservative republican.

Still, I find myself liking Rubio because of his optimism.

This go-around you've got Trump talking about how everybody's an idiot and a loser and we need to "make america great again." Guys like Cruz and Huckabee think the apocalypse is upon us because gheys are getting hitched.

Then on the left you've got bernie sanders. I like Sanders but everything he says is how much of a tragedy things are and how we ought to be ashamed about X, Y and Z.

But Rubio, he doesn't talk about America like we're focked or we suck ass now. I appreciate that. Sure both sides can identify things they want changed or fixed, but there's still plenty of good stuff to work with. We're still an industrious and inventive people. Our financial markets are still the envy of the world. Etc., etc. And Rubio recognizes that and wants to build on that rather than talk about how focking terrible everything is

Good post. Hopefully my party gets their head out of their ass and puts someone like Rubio up there, vs. Trump.

Rubio might be the biggest puppet in the field. Agree he can deliver a canned speech but his platform is a lump of special interest establishment clay.

I like that Rubio voted against the Biden-McConnell deficit exploding deal that ended the fiscal cliff.

I completely disagree. Our society is in the late beginning of its decline.

Our economy is smoke and mirrors.

Our political system is a corrupt joke with ZERO ability to govern.

Our people are disillusioned, largely disinterested, and our society is quickly becoming a morass of ignorance and sh!t. Parents do not care for, let alone nurture, their children. Access to health care is still a joke. The people, like its government, is drowning in debt.

We don't need neidermeir from animal house telling us all is well. All is not well. We need a leader who will stand up and tell us the uncomfortable truth. That if we don't make some major changes, America as the "city on a hill" is done. Finished.

I look at China. They have invested trillions in infrastructure while ours rots. Their people sacrifice to give their children a better future. Ours won't even bother to feed and clothe theirs. Their government has amassed trillions in cash and gold. Ours has trillions in bills to pay. They have a long term plan. We can't make a budget from year to year.

We need to wake up. Before it is too late.

When my son was in elementary he was a good kid, but made a few missteps growing up like everybody else. A teacher sent a note to us about a problem he caused with another student and mentioned his office hours, if we had any questions or wanted to talk. We had our son write an apology to the other kid and write an apology to read to the class for the disruption. I called the teacher to ask if he was satisfied that the matter had been addressed. He confirmed that my son had done as he was told and then he said something that kind of set me back. He thanked us as parents for being involved in the life of our child. :shocking: He said no matter what happens good or bad with many kids, it goes unnoticed. He said although he makes himself available his phone rarely rings.

I don't know if the above is a joke, but it is hard to take it seriously when you say things like"they won't even bother to clothe and feed theirs" huh? Is there somewhere in the U.S where starving, naked children are abundant? And I don't know why you would think that the current Chinese economic model is sustainable. When a good portion of the workforce are basically indentured servants, that doesn't lend itself to stability. People get pissed after a while, and have a habit of revolting.

I thought the problem with American kids was that they were spoiled and entitled and parents were OVERLY involved in their lives. It's so hard to keep up. :dunno:

China; where people care about their children, unless it's a girl and they have to drown it.

We go to our kids' open house at school every year. You know what the teachers generally say?

"We appreciate you coming in. Your kid is great, yada-yada-yada. It's a shame that the parents who don't really need to come, like you guys, come every year, and the parents who really need to come never do."

WTF?

Go to virtually any public school in America. You will notice that a large portion of students are on free lunch. They also get free breakfast and an after school snack. You will also notice a significant number of dirty children that are in the same clothes daily. This despite the fact that the parents receive food stamps and afdc, and have nice things themselves.

Obviously I'm not talking about the majority here. But a bigger minority than you think.

Actually, you are talking about a majority in some cases. I talked with two teachers from a local ISD, who told me that 90% of their students were on free lunch. Not inner city. Not a Black majority by a long shot.

WTF?

I just had my 3rd kid enter HS. Our kids always end up with a mix of honors and regular classes. In the beginning of each year they have a parent night where we meet the teachers. Inevitably the honors classes are full of involved parents. The regular classes, not so much. :dunno:

With no help from there parents, which is kind of the point.

That's not always true. There are plenty of hard working people who don't make much or had some bad luck. And plenty of leeches too.

My point is, those parents already receive SNAP and various other programs to feed the kids. They still don't bother. The kids never have clothes. The parents sure do. And nice phones, booze, and smoke too.

And does China have its problems? Of course. But there is a pride of purpose and civic mindedness here I haven't seen in America in a very long time.

That was my point.

I really hope nobody else from FFT moves to China, because I don't think I can handle reading 24/7 chank posts from another GC member.

We get it, you sucked at capitalism and moved to China. Quit pretending it's some sort of communist utopia.

I think when you go to other countries, you realize how uptight America is. We have a rule for everything at this point. That being said, I don't want to take my life in my hands trying to cross the street or breathing in pollution all the time.

Mobb Deep's been really nasty lately. What's weird is, as far as I can tell, what sparked it was me picking Marcus Wheaton late in the second round of a dynasty draft. Honestly, that's it. It set him off as a grievous personal insult for mysterious reasons and the venom's been coming my way ever since.

Sure we busted each others' balls over Wheaton but who cares? Why is it that our deep disagreement over the value of a young Steeler WR taken 20 or so picks into a rookie/FA draft has inexplicably morphed the mild mannered MD into A$$holeman?

I'm not joking. As far as I can tell disagreeing over Wheaton is the only cause, my only known transgression with this guy. I always liked Mobb and have spent the last two months wondering WTF is wrong with him that he's started throwing insults my way all the time.

As for TBBOM, he said something that I disagree with that deserves criticism and I don't have his back on his observations in this thread, but will say he doesn't deserve the venom either.

He got off to a good start about the U.S. in decline, I agree. but then comparing it to China and the lack of concern for kids, I'm not going there.

You drafted Markus Bryant!

Really though, I'm just annoyed that you two make everything about China. We're talking about pizza and it's "in China they don't eat pizza". We're talking about best pick-up lines and its "That would work in China".

When it was only you It was tolerable, but now it's coming out both ends. I'm happy for you guys and all, but it just gets a bit redundant after a while.

I've also just been more irritable, since turning 40 a few months back. Mid life crisis or something. :)

It's only gotten annoying since TBBOM won't shut up about China's supposed superiority. Especially when coupled with his stories about children being run over regularly with no one giving a sh1t. Yeah, sounds lovely

And don't get me wrong, I like TBBOM a lot as a poster. I get that he's in a new place and he's excited that chanks like fat white guy's. I enjoy his thread about China, and all the cute girls.

I just don't like reading a parallel about China in every god damn thread. It's almost like they're trolling us, with the country of China.
