Costco sells $5999 - 6 years of food - for those worried about shtf

Recommended Posts

That's kinda the way this article is leaning.

If "political issues" lead to you needing 1 year to 6 years worth of food stockpiled, you'll need more than food. You'll need guns. And lots of ammo. If you don't have it, someone will come take your $6k worth of food in about 4 seconds.

We are focked. I agree on guns and ammo and also some sort of organization with those living close by is the only thing that might extend your life if there is ever something like an EMP attack, which is a genuine possibility and we are woefully unprepared. Even then, you're dead. would get so ugly so fast.

A side note: This has been Jim Baker's (ex PTL guy who went to prison) shtick for the last few years. He's been peddling Jesus, dried food and solar generators on late night TV.

You're not gonna make it... :music_guitarred:

That's where the terrorist fock up. A few well placed attacks would knock out power all over the country for weeks to months. Thousands would die if not millions.

I mean me and mine would be okay the rest of you are focked.

I have read that the archaic nature of the US power grid actually protects us to some degree. There is no US power grid. It is a very compartmentalized thing, on a local level. Thus, it would be nearly impossible to knock out the whole country.

Obviously the denser parts of the country, like the NE, would be most vulnerable.

I don't think anyone would "be focked" though. We lost power for over a week in summer in Tennessee once. Over a week in winter another time. No big deal. Sucks, but hardly life threatening.

We lost power for a few hours last winter and it was all out war. By hour 2, we killed and ate our neighbors.

I keep a large supply of water and non-perishable food due to where i live, but i do not think i could justify a years worth of food.

A big solar flare would be my primary worry, but not enough of a worry to become a prepper.

I think it's Bill Burr and says the people who stock up like this are just saving food for the biggest guy the most well-armed one on the Block.

Why bother with having all that food? I just have the guns and the ammo. That way I can go take it from you fockers who did the work of actually stockpiling supplies.

On a serious note though, first place I'm hiting up in case of a disaster is Walgreens or CVS. Grab all the meds I can get my hands on as well as food, waster, toiletries, etc. After that the gas station and gun store. Meds will go for a great amount in an apocalypse

I remember when a lot of the east coast lost power due to one power facilities. Lines where super long at gas stations and stores started running out of food. When you look at cities losing power for a few days you see a lot of old people die due to the heat in summer.

Personally I think if al of the US lost power for a week you'd have a lot of deaths depending on when it happened. If the US lost power for a month. People would go focking nuts.

How are you storing the gas? Must be ethanol free.

The safest way is to buy individually shrink-wrapped gas pellets. All you have to do is add water. Much safer way to store gasoline.

I store ethanol gas for long periods of time. The key is to keep it topped off so that it is not possible for condensation to form inside the tank.

As long as phase separation does not occur the only risk is a slow decrease in octane rating.

In addition to storing gasoline myself I have read much on this subject by other people that store hundreds of gallons of gas, ie offshore boaters.

Nearshore and inshore are the other two types of salt water boating.

According to my math...that $5999 Costco kit is 72 million calories.

If you ate 3000 calories per day, it would last you 65 years. Although, the shelf life of the items is only 25 years...so....

2 people could eat 3800 calories per day for the next 25 years for only $3000 a piece.

That's only 32 cents per day. (25 years = 9120 days. $3000/9120 = .32)

How the fock is that possible? 32 cents for 3800 calories?

The amount of sodium has to be through the roof.

I think that's all it is

I like how the reviewer was happy that it came in discrete brown boxes. Probably because he doesn't want his neighbors to know he is a kook.

I'm guessing he's well known in his neighborhood.

He's the guy everyone tells their kids to not go by his house, he walks around in camo gear, wears face paint, stores his urine and has an underground bunker.

I watched a few of those prepper shows. The dumbest guy thought the military would someday take over and come take him and his family away. He built a metal room onto the side of his house like that would keep them out.

Country wide power outage would result in total anarchy inside 1 month.

Absolutely it would. But people would just call the cops to help them out if they ran into any difficulties.

This is probably too preppery for you, but there's been estimates that 90% of the U.S. population would die off in less than 1-2 years if there was a country wide EMP. Nobody knows how to grow food, get water, medicine, sanitation, heat, shelter...
