This morning Joe business w Trump

Recommended Posts

I have an early morning call, so I tuned in to Morning Joe this morning. I really wanted to see the players as opposed today just hearing bits and pieces in various news Snippets. Turns out, this could really be something. Sort of like a very little thing involving a secretary was a big thing ultimately regarding Watergate and Nixon.

I want to read the article for myself, but Joe and Mika apparently addressed a lot of things in the Washington Post this morning. Among the bigger bombshells is that they got a call from three different high-level Administration sources begging Joe 2 call the president of and apologize and make nice with him. Otherwise, Trump who's friend runs the National Enquirer was going to have a story about them run by The Enquirer.

Ultimately, Joe and Mika called Trump's Bluff the story ran and it was a big old nothing Burger. But the idea of that level of intimidation of the media? That's not Watergate, that's McCarthy.

Moreover, they talked about high-level people in Congress and in trumps own staff who are genuinely worried about Trump's mental state. And there's some pretty specific and scary stories to back that up.

So, what started as sort of a throw away, Trump being Trump kind of story is gaining a lot of traction that this is more a symptom of a much larger problem and that Trump may very well not have full control of his faculties.

This is my summation of what I heard. Again, I want to read the story and see what conclusions they draw. But I think a lot of people have been whispering about Trump for a while and now those Whispers may stop being Whispers and start being part of a quiet but very real conversation going forward.

Apparently, Trump lost his absolute s*** in front of 20 different congressman. So much so that some of them called up Joe and warned him that POTUS was losing his gourd.

I think the one thing Trump has going for him is timing. This being a holiday weekend and all.

Will be interesting to see what that article says.

For the first time I can remember I put on local sports talk radio yesterday and they were talking politics, specifically Trump and this tweet. The host was saying Trunp behaves like a 15 years old girl and it's a disgrace to himself and America.

I agree but this stuff is so common with Trump now I can't even keep up with it. I think he ran for attention, doesn't want to be president and doesn't like the job.

I just don't understand how such an ugly man would ever look to attack someone's appearance. Attack their financial worth. Attack their career. But their looks? Seriously Donald? Do you own a mirror?

What is pretty scary is that they alluded to something pretty big that's fixing to break globally. That really has nothing to do with Trump. I think they use the word dangerous.

Anybody who studies history knows that the major news organizations have historically known about really big stories that they've agreed to sit on for national security reasons.

From what I could gather, the only reason they brought it up at all was that people in power are worried about this stuff happening while Trump is still freaking out over little things like fake magazine covers.

But, for the purposes of this conversation, screw Trump. Now I'm damn curious what's coming down the pike. My guess is Putin is going to try to expand his reach Beyond Ukraine. But there's so much other s*** going on that who knows?

Colt is surprising me. She's pretty much declared war on Hannity.

The other day she said that Trump could propose communism and Hannity would back it as long as it was Trump.😃

It seems like more and more conservatives are starting to see the writing on the wall.

Sorry, distracted by all the ads for beautiful Russian mail-order brides. I wonder if that's a coincidence?

Washington (CNN)First lady Melania Trump is standing by President Donald Trump's Thursday morning tweets criticizing MSNBC's "Morning Joe" co-host Mika Brzezinski.

"As the First Lady has stated publicly in the past, when her husband gets attacked, he will punch back 10 times harder," the first lady's communications director Stephanie Grisham said in a statement to CNN when asked about the tweets.

Easy on the moral high ground.

Fixed and....if Joe has text...ruh roh.

CNN

MSNBC hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski claim President Trump and his White House used the possibility of a hit piece in the National Enquirer to threaten them.

But President Trump has a very different account of what happened. "FAKE NEWS," he tweeted during "Morning Joe" Friday morning

The editor in charge of the Enquirer, Dylan Howard, said "we have no knowledge of any discussions between the White House and Joe and Mika about our story, and absolutely no involvement in those discussions."

Meanwhile, Scarborough says he has proof of the White House threats -- "I have texts from your top aides and phone records."

First, I can see The Enquirer not being involved in discussions between the White House and Joe. That just makes sense. Or at a minimum, plausible deniability.

And, agreed. If Joe has any sort of proof that will be pretty wild.

Still, the way that White House works, Trump will swear that he had nothing to do with it. Or, in other words, throw anybody and everybody beneath him under the bus.

“The president of the United States is the most powerful person in the world. The president is the spokesman for democracy and liberty. Isn’t it time we brought back the pomp and circumstance and the sense of awe for that office that we all held? That means everyone in the administration should look and act professionally, especially the president."

President Trump launched personal attacks against us Thursday, but our concerns about his unmoored behavior go far beyond the personal. America’s leaders and allies are asking themselves yet again whether this man is fit to be president. We have our doubts, but we are both certain that the man is not mentally equipped to continue watching our show, “Morning Joe.”

The president’s unhealthy obsession with our show has been in the public record for months, and we are seldom surprised by his posting nasty tweets about us. During the campaign, the Republican nominee called Mika “neurotic” and promised to attack us personally after the campaign ended. This year, top White House staff members warned that the National Enquirer was planning to publish a negative article about us unless we begged the president to have the story spiked. We ignored their desperate pleas.

The president’s unhealthy obsession with “Morning Joe” does not serve the best interests of either his mental state or the country he runs. Despite his constant claims that he no longer watches the show, the president’s closest advisers tell us otherwise. That is unfortunate. We believe it would be better for America and the rest of the world if he would keep his 60-inch-plus flat-screen TV tuned to “Fox & Friends.”

For those lucky enough to miss Thursday’s West Wing temper tantrum, the president continued a year-long habit of lashing out at “Morning Joe” while claiming to never watch it. During his early-morning tirade, Mr. Trump spit out schoolyard insults about “low I.Q. Crazy Mika,” “Psycho Joe” and much worse. He also fit a flurry of falsehoods in his two-part tweetstorm.

Mr. Trump claims that we asked to join him at Mar-a-Lago three nights in a row. That is false. He also claimed that he refused to see us. That is laughable.

The president-elect invited us both to dinner on Dec. 30. Joe attended because Mika did not want to go. After listening to the president-elect talk about his foreign policy plans, Joe was asked by a disappointed Mr. Trump the next day if Mika could also visit Mar-a-Lago that night. She reluctantly agreed to go. After we arrived, the president-elect pulled us into his family’s living quarters with his wife, Melania, where we had a pleasant conversation. We politely declined his repeated invitations to attend a New Year’s Eve party, and we were back in our car within 15 minutes.

Mr. Trump also claims that Mika was “bleeding badly from a face-lift.” That is also a lie.

Putting aside Mr. Trump’s never-ending obsession with women’s blood, Mika and her face were perfectly intact, as pictures from that night reveal. And though it is no one’s business, the president’s petulant personal attack against yet another woman’s looks compels us to report that Mika has never had a face-lift. If she had, it would be evident to anyone watching “Morning Joe” on their high-definition TV. She did have a little skin under her chin tweaked, but this was hardly a state secret. Her mother suggested she do so, and all those around her were aware of this mundane fact.

More significant is Mr. Trump’s continued mistreatment of women. It is disturbing that the president of the United States keeps up his unrelenting assault on women. From his menstruation musings about Megyn Kelly, to his fat-shaming treatment of a former Miss Universe, to his braggadocio claims about grabbing women’s genitalia, the 45th president is setting the poorest of standards for our children. We were heartened to hear a number of Republican lawmakers call out Mr. Trump for his offensive words and can only hope that the women who are closest to him will follow their examples. It would be the height of hypocrisy to claim the mantle of women’s empowerment while allowing a family member to continue such abusive conduct.

We have known Mr. Trump for more than a decade and have some fond memories of our relationship together. But that hasn’t stopped us from criticizing his abhorrent behavior or worrying about his fitness. During the height of the 2016 presidential campaign, Joe often listened to Trump staff members complain about their boss’s erratic behavior, including a top campaign official who was as close to the Republican candidate as anyone.

We, too, have noticed a change in his behavior over the past few years. Perhaps that is why we were neither shocked nor insulted by the president’s personal attack. The Donald Trump we knew before the campaign was a flawed character but one who still seemed capable of keeping his worst instincts in check.

Total side note but I'm so glad my mom is not like this. I'd much rather "tweak" something because I'm being vain, not because my mom is looking at me and thinking "that needs to change." That has to be hard for women. I get that she's on TV so her mom is looking out for her...in a way, but still.

Leave it to Jezebel.com to recap the part about it being a dangerous time:

Scarborough: We have friends inside the White House that have told us over the past month they’re getting more concerned about his emotional state and also more concerned over time about what’s happening across the world. There are bad things brewing across the world...This is one of the most dangerous times in recent American history and we have a president who is attacking a cable news host because she dared make a joke about a Time Magazine news cover.

Jezebel left that out. So I see where you were coming from with that, wiff. Wasn't sure how much you speculating with post #6.

That's interesting.

It's actually amazing how much our press sits on. You wouldn't think so, but it's true.
