Have read about guys who have done this. I respect the Hell out of them. I live half a mile from the river just past the GreaterNewOrlens bridge. I've seen sh!t in that water and currents that are scary as fawk. The mighty Mississippi is nothing to fawk with. I also used to drink Dixie beer, which is where they got the water from. But 28 years later I'm still here and liking it. Met a girl, got married, had kids, and job never made either of us move (one of the benefits of sales vs. management IMO). Maybe it is that I come from a blue collar, lower middle class upbringing where nobody moved; I don't feel the desire to go live somewhere else.

You're out of your mind. Terrible weather and outdoor activity options (no ocean or real mountains). Not into culture or sports, but those are pretty mediocre as well. I guess it has a reasonable cost of living, but so do a lot of other sh!tty states.
