    Bored Rooned

So I haven't played fantasy football in like 6 or 7 years. Haven't been here since then. Logged in today to print some cheatsheets for my 13 year-old, who has a fantasy draft later this afternoon. I have to admit, seeing the same names and the same geeks posting gives me a strange sense of comfort and familiarity. And it's good to see that the bored has been completely rooned.....again. Bravo!

I'm done playing cash poker for now

You called a 5X BB raise pre-flop out of position with K-5 suited. Nothing that you typed after that matters. You had no business being in the hand...period. If you were that convinced that he was raising with air and you wanted his $10 that badly, you should have come over the top with a big re-raise. Calling here is a donkey play.

So the other day at the casino, I got dealt 7,2 off

I understand your argument....I still don't agree with it. Your argument is based on being a savvy enough player to control the action and use this "favorable" flop to set a potential trap for opponents who check or bet out weakly. However, if you re-read GFIAFP's post, he states the following: Flop comes 3h4d7d, and I'm thinking that's a pretty good flop, if I had called. Guy makes a big bet, other guy calls. Turn is the 7c So when the other guy throws out that "BIG BET" and that big bet is called by another player, you believe that you are trapping both of them by calling that bet with a pair of 7s and no kicker. I disagree. You admit in your post that there is a sh!tload of danger that you have to avoid. Here you don't get your ideal flop of trips, and you aren't dealing with "small bettors". A big bet and a call tell you that more than likely at least ONE of them, and maybe BOTH of them, are ahead of you. I argue that if you call that bet, you are probably making a mistake looking for your miracle 2-outer to set your trap. Perhaps you're right...maybe we do need to play. ; )

I'm siding with Dank here. Over time, tossing in the extra dollar on a garbage SB hand is NOT going to be a money making move. When the flop came out, it was 3,4,7...so now you have top pair with a non-existent kicker. Now what?? You have flush draws out there, straight draws out there, and you are behind to any overpair, any 7 with a better kicker, and a HUGE dog to anyone who limped in with pocket 3s or 4s and just hit their set or someone laying in the weeds with 5-6 who flopped the nuts. Most beginning players tend to overbet this kind of flop and end up spewing off a ton of chips. Yes, in THIS case, the turn would have given him trips and the river would have given him quads, but for every ONE of these dream boards, you will lose a ton of money the other 95% of the time. You say that the fraction of pots you win will make up for all those extra bucks you throw in pre-flop, but you are ignoring the tough bets you will have to make or call post-flop in order to get there. Even after that flop, a TON of hands have you dominated and tons of draws will stick around and call you down. Even 2 overcards will call a reasonable bet. When the Turn comes King or Ace, and then the river comes with the 3rd diamond, how far are you willing to go to showdown your pair of 7s?? You can argue all you want, but the fact is, you're wrong in this case.

    Jeter is a cheater

I like these examples....especially since we're talking the same sport. If the ump sends you to first, you go to first. If the ump says you checked your swing, you checked your swing. A called strike is a strike. Baseball is a game filled with unwritten "rules", traditions, and deceptions. The whole "he faked an injury" is not the point. Pretending he was hurt was a douchey move, but it doesn't make him a cheater. It's not like he was awarded SECOND base too because he seemed to be hurt. The ump missed the call...it's part of the game. To expect any professional athlete to NOT take that base is crazy. The opposing manager had the right to argue the point & demand another ump with a better angle help him with the call...that's about it. Again, "selling" the call by acting as if he was doubled over in pain was unnecessary & douchetastic, but he's not a cheater.

    players from the same team

For what it's worth, a guy in my league started 4 Colts last year...Manning, Addai, Wayne & D Clark. He pretty much dominated the regular season and playoffs before losing in the championship game. It was amazing how many times all 4 of those guys would get 20+ each in our PPR league.

    Auction Values

I definitely agree. After years of serpentine re-drafts, we switched to an Auction League (and would NEVER go back, by the way). I've used the Cheatsheet Compiler/Draft Buddy both years and made the playoffs both years. I agree with the others that you tweak the auction values a bit based on your own hunches and targeted players, but since the CC/DB builds in your specific league scoring, specific salary cap, etc etc, there's really little tweaking that needs to be done. The Draft Buddy is absolutely fantastic on draft day, because you not only know exactly where YOU stand with salary cap, max bid, roster needs...but you also know exactly where everyone ELSE stands. So if you get into a bidding war with another player, you know exactly how much he has to spend, what roster spots he still needs to fill, etc. On draft day, I always end up being the "official" source of info on how much money everyone has left, etc. Our Auctioneer is screwed if I ever don't bring the Draft Buddy to the sports bar with me. I know this sounded like a complete CC/DB commercial, but I swear Mike & Mike didn't plant me here....I just wanted to share.

Stuff they make me do in Medical School

Spelling the word "competency" wrong in a post where you question someone else's competency, is just delightfully ironic. I'm still not quite sure why you're so obsessed with MedStudent's posts in the first place. Oh, wait, that's right...he has different political views than you do. My guess is that if GoColts or one of your other brainless, boot-licking cronies was sharing stories about medical school instead of collecting his disability check from the "gubmint" while watching Fox News & eating Fruit Loops in his mom's basement, you wouldn't go out of your way to click on his post to accuse him of being a narcissistic attention wh0re. Congratulations, you are so completely predictable, that you've basically become a parody of yourself. Now go back to posting dancing bananas and try not to dislocate your shoulder patting yourself on the back for your witty comebacks.

    Boy's and Girl - - I have fumbled on to a masterpiece

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

How much do you pay for health insurance now?

The problem with this thread is that there are WAY too many variables: Individual policies vs. Group Policies Plan designs...some of us may be talking about a $250 deductible, 90% PPO plan, and some might be talking about a $2500/$5000 High Deductible plan. On group plans, a lot of employers don't publicize how much of the premium THEY are paying...we are seeing the employee portion only. etc etc etc We're comparing apples to oranges to bananas to watermelons.
