wiffleball 4,638 Posted November 15, 2018 https://www.cnn.com/2018/11/15/us/chicago-area-security-guard-police-shooting/index.html Man, the story is a lot more than the title. Finding out that he was working extra shifts to make his little kids first Christmas even better really got to me. Maybe one of you guys can cut and paste relevant sections. I just honestly don't understand God's calculus.

Filthy Fernadez 2,696 Posted November 15, 2018 Okay, not to p!ss on CNN's heartbreaking story here but................. ROBBINS, Illinois -- In their first official account of the police shooting that killed an armed black security guard outside a bar in suburban Chicago early Sunday, Illinois State Police say the guard, Jemel Roberson, ignored an officer's "multiple verbal commands" to drop his gun and get on the ground. The state police account contradicts witnesses who say Roberson, 26, was wearing clothing that identified him as a security guard; police say he was wearing "plain black clothing with no markings." State police are investigating the shooting by the white officer from the Midlothian Police Department, who has not been identified. Protesters gathered Tuesday outside the Midlothian Police headquarters, some carrying portraits of Roberson, an aspiring police officer who played the organ at his and other area churches. A family attorney has said the young man was a father and that his girlfriend is pregnant with their second child. "A Midlothian Police Officer encountered a subject in plain black clothing with no markings readily identifying him as a Security Guard, armed with a gun in the west parking lot," state police said late Tuesday. "According to witness statements, the Midlothian officer gave the armed subject multiple verbal commands to drop the gun and get on the ground before ultimately discharging his gun and striking the subject." https://www.cbsnews.com/news/jemel-roberson-shooting-chicago-security-guard-state-police-contradict-witness-accounts/

There are conflicting accounts as to whether he was wearing anything clearly denoting him as security and both stories indicate that he did not follow multiple commands to drop the weapon. lickin_starfish 1,480 Posted November 15, 2018 He was black and the cop is white, that's all the facts we need. All other evidence is just noise.

I'm also supposed to be the board racist right? God, it's so hard choosing here. I just think the whole story sucks. Older I get, more stuff like this gets to me. Guess the only Silver Lining here is you just know that little boy is going to be buried in toys for Christmas. But the thought of him keep asking about his dad kills me. I would take that Dads fate in a heartbeat. Fock, I'd be grateful to do so. Like I said, God's calculus sucks.
RaiderHaters Revenge 3,577 Posted November 15, 2018 story sucks another life that could have been saved by following cops instructions, don't care if you are a security guard, a navy seal, another off duty cop. Listen to instructions then when the time presents itself (and it will) inform the officer of your credentials

Yeah, I guess I prefer the CBS story that avoids setting the narrative 'yet another black cop who was an excellent person was unjustifiably shot by a white cop' with the line "But he still had to face the reality of being a black man in America," If it's true that he ignored warnings as Police respond to an active shooter situation and find him with a gun on a guy, he bears some blame. True... but, don't you think the CNN article rather - glossed over - the fact that this very well could be a justified shooting and did all they could to promote the "black man killed by white cop" agenda? If it comes out that the cop never said a word and that the security guard was wearing security guard clothing, CNN will (rightfully so), do all they can in burning at cop at the stake. We know they'll do that, right? Right. If it comes out that the security guard did in fact have no discernible clothing and had a gun in hand and did receive multiple warnings to drop the gun, we will hear NOTHING AT ALL from CNN. We know that'll happen, right? Right. Another thing we know that'll happen, is that this will be put in a collage of white cop killing black man agenda ideology. Just like the hands up don't shoot kid and the other instances where the cops were justified.

So you would take his fate in a heartbeat. Does that mean if you had his gun and were in his situation, and the cops were telling you to put it down, you wouldn't? What do you know about this guy personally?
wiffleball 4,638 Posted November 16, 2018 I don't care how he died or why or who he was. I know his kids going to spend his first Christmas missing his Dad and asking where he's at, thankfulky unable to comprehend much more beyond that.
