Interesting, or Not

Recommended Posts

Yeah, I know a guy from here. Former poster actually. He got laid off through no fault of his own. Bad management blah blah blah. It's not like he got replaced. I mean they they literally shut down that division or whatever.

College degree. Former military. And he went nuts 1 week or whatever and apply for 125 different jobs. Everything from sales to fast food. Barely a sniff.

Months later, still nothing.

What makes it harder is twofold. If this was 2008 right about now? It would be more acceptable. Also, like the article talks about there's a class that everybody thinks is so damn privileged, but once you're out, you're out.

I Remember talking to this woman who is a jobs counselor for the state one time. And I told her that hell, there are jobs programs out there for handicapped, veterans, even felons and everything else. Are there any jobs programs out there just for normal people? And she kind of laughed, but she understood. That's actually the first thing they do is push you through a list of potential jobs program qualifiers like being a Indian woman or a retarded man. So naturally, I qualify.

... Because I'm A Squaw.

Was thinking about him when I read that article. Doesn't surprise me at all quite honestly. Then, throw in a bankruptcy or a DUI, extended work gap, basically anything that they can find to disqualify you.

That's one of the things that I hate about Obama. He picked up this idea from his black panther buddies. Ban the Box. Meaning, God forbid an employer or future employer looks to see if you've committed a violent felony before committing to hiring you. Oh no no no, Obama said that's a bad idea.

But God damn, default on your mortgage in 2009? And you're still paying for it job wise.

Something's Bass ackwards about that huh?

Anyhoodles...

Never really did believe all these Rosy numbers.

For example, it used to be 16 year olds working at McDonalds. Now it's 46 and 56 year olds.

For example, this idea that everybody has a job. No, there are some people out there who are literally working three and four jobs. So if you got a million jobs and a million people, and 600000 people working one job and 200,000 working multiple jobs, you may still end up with a million jobs filled, but you still have 20% unemployment.

Anyway, whatever.

Wasn't the direction I thought you were going to go.

They're gung ho the first week. Man, I'm going to apply for 10 jobs everyday! I'm going to get on Monster and indeed and Snagajob and...

by the second week, even though you've told every online recruiter that you need a job within 20 miles of XYZ zip code and these are the categories of jobs for Which youre qualified, they basically just Spam the out of you with telemarketer jobs that are 60 miles away.

By week 3 and cleaning out 900 irrelevant job solicitations, fuuck it, every Monday ill clean out my inbox and see if there's anything...

When I used to pay human recruiters, that drove me bonkers to no end. As a hiring Authority. I would give them Absolute specifics and they would bring me any thing. And I'd end up having the same lecture with every one of them. Look you get 1/3 of this guy's six figure salary. Is it too much for you to weed through this shiit? Because if I have to weed through it? Then what the fuuck are you doing?

Every recruiter I ever worked with:

Yes, I need a specialist in ass cancer.

Okay great! I know we can fill that!

60 resumes from ear nose and throat guys, 100 resumes from diabetes specialist, 300 gynecologist, etcetera

Well, they're all doctors!

I've met people who aren't going to reset their careers or take a step back/down once their current job goes away. They'd rather remain unemployed, waiting for that right situation to come along. I can't fathom not providing for my family. I was furloughed from an airline years ago and was willing to work 3 sh!tty jobs to make ends meet.

Pussification of men (not just America).

It's a Trump hit piece. Vox. Joke.

Jesus man, do you wake up thinking that shiit?

Talk about TDS. Not once in the reading of that did I think of trump. In fact, I don't even know or can't even fathom The Logical Pathway to get there.

The thing I did have was the arrogance of the Liberals like Hillary and Obama who talked about Job retraining.

Hey thanks sport. I'm 53 years old, I've got a wife and kids counting on me. I busted my ass going to night school to Make a Better Living for my family. But sure yeah I've got a couple years to start at Ground Zero.

Tell you what, you quit your job traveling around the world for free and getting paid six figures to talk about God knows fuucking what and I'll see you bright and early Monday morning learning how to harvest algae okay?

But until I can make a living wage and send my kids to college on Cutting Edge algae technology, I'll just put on the same paper hat that I wore 40 fuucking years ago. And my life and all the sacrifices and all those hours working fuucking free overtime for bosses like you won't feel like a fuucking waste whatsoever.

But sure yeah, you know the fuucking article if you would have bothered to fuucking read it, about the millions of guys who lost their decent jobs back in 2009, yeah somehow let's make that hugely logical leap to Donald fuucking Trump. Makes sense to me.

Jeesus...

Yeah, I'm sure there's some of that. Maybe even a lot of that, I don't know.

But this guy I'm thinking of. 125 applications? What a hit & half to not even get a fuucking call back from (ex) Pei Wei for Christ's sake.

I've been on both sides and now I feel really badly. You're 25 years old, yeah you're going to hire a 50 something year old dude. Times have changed, but not that radically. I remember cutting the herd because a dude had three four years of unemployment. But post 2008? That may very well be the new normal. But it's a shitload easier for a broad to get away with that than a dude.

- as evidenced by your own post.

You should be embarrassed that Google is even suggesting you these Vox links or social media. I am assuming you are getting retargeted by their ads. I bet if you really pulled the onion back on the data, theres like a 75% chance youre a homosexual.
