You know that quote had nothing to do with guns, right? In fact Franklin wasn't even talking about individual liberties, he was talking about Pennsylvania giving up the power to tax the Penn family in favor of a onetime payment from them to help secure the frontier border.

I don't know where I insinuated that it did? You understand that you can say the same thing, and it can mean something totally different, depending on the context, right?

Usually when one quotes someone else it's specifically to use their quote in the context the person did originally. I mean, you're attributing it to Ben Franklin and he would go "WTF" if asked about how you're using it.

Valid point. But, If Ben Franklin were alive today, he'd definitely use it in this context too. :)

Or post here all day long.

Nothing is going to be done for the same reason nothing is ever done in Washington: it isn't in the best interests of someone with a lobbying group, and that lobbying group can pay your elected officials far more than your taxes can. Whether it is the gun lobby, the oil lobby, the biofuel lobby, the tobacco lobby, the banking lobby...their money talks much louder than the voices of millions of Americans ever could.

Hence the part about a well regulated militia that the NRA conveniently overlooks every ###### time. Very similar circumstances were in place with regard to the militias here back in the day.

But let's not let facts ruin a good...

You mean that argument that the SCOTUS rejected? Gee, I wonder why they overlook it?

Except the kids did say that the kid was weird, creepy, etc.

I know that my kids have no problem telling teachers and coaches when a kid is acting incorrectly. They have never been told that was wrong. This is false PC outrage.

BTW - I have a fundamental problem with people portrait video when we need landscape. Good thing that there was no hot chicks in this video.

These events are celebrated by basically everyone in the media and gun business. Sales through the roof, clicks, tweets, attention on social media, around the clock broadcasting. Yall need to realize yesterday was Xmas for these outlets. At this point, if Im a gun store owner Id pay some delusional kid to shoot up a nearby school just to drive my sales. Be stupid not to.

My prediction.......One side will want to debate the issue....but the other side will attack the other side for politicizing a tragedy and say it's much too soon for us to debate the issue, as we need to let emotions calm......then in a month, other issues will be at the front of the news cycle, not leaving time and energy for this issue.

That's just my gut feeling.

In an alternate universe the shooter is Muslim or Mexican and the forearm Trumpers are calling for all kinds of new laws and refs to keep us safe.

For now I'll regard that as just some two-bit racist trying to get some publicity for his 'cause'.

Exactly...unless he just shot black people I don't see the point of muddying the waters.

and thank god the courts haven't been packed to support certain viewpoints rather than actual precedent, the text and the actual meaning of the laws.

We’ve had guns in this country since day one without these mass shootings. The mass shootings are about 2 decades old.

What has changed?

1. Destruction of the family unit

2. A movement that hates America, law enforcement, the military, etc.

3. A movement to take God out of our society

4.

5.

There are many more

I'm sorry did they erase the words and history itself too?

I'm presenting actual facts. Historical context. And here's another little bit of trivia. Scotus has overturned scotus itself many times. You act like they're the Arbiter of absolute truth. They sure as fock are not.

Apparently, this flash card doesn't remember University of Texas.

What's changed in the past 20 years? Oh, I don't know. The ability to more easily and cheaply render weapons into automatic weapons? Increased muzzle velocity? Increased clip capacity? See, those are all actual facts. Your Rush Limbaugh Alex Jones bullshit is exactly that. Bulshit

Considering that the decision Strike is referring to, pretty much disagreed with 7 earlier SCOTUS opinions, you are spot on about them reversing themselves.

How does that entice people go to school and kill children?

Do you really believe that is the problem?

Maybe if the FBI wasnt so busy going after Trump they could have stopped this!

So is the FACT that gun violence is way down despite the number of guns being WAY UP in America, a fact conveniently ignored by gun control proponents in every discussion about the issue.

Irrelevant considering the comment I was refuting was that the NRA doesn't mention the militia argument. Well, maybe that's because the law of the land currently doesn't recognize that argument so why the fock would the NRA?
