Sports betting

Tell me your thoughts on sports betting. Any and all thoughts  I may help an effort to promote it although I'm personally indifferent at this point.

The federal ban on it was recently overturned by the Supreme Court so now it's up to the States. Technically Congress can step in if they choose.

I really enjoy doing it and the majority of mine is on football, college and pro. I'm in Iowa where it's not allowed so I use Bovada and 5dimes to place bets.

it's enjoyable and I should be able to do so without having to go through all the hoops and hurtles if I choose to partake in that form of entertainment.

1) Because she gave him her credentials here

2) She would never post asking about Sports Betting.

3) If she did post about sports betting the post would be about 500 words longer than the OP in this thread, with some weird twisted logic about a boy she might have an interest in hanging out with but not banging.

So

A. there is an actual poster named Naomi but Husker has their login information and posted on that alias from time to time

Or

B. Naomi has always been a fake alias he used

Yep, its 100% husker, Naomi indeed would never post about sports betting. Also girls dont watch Star Trek or even know what it is really, wouldnt have that Avatar. Even the emoticon mid sentence is a giveaway.

A. She gave it to him for unknown reasons. Well, I can speculate. If you've followed her quasi-romances, she seems to like guys I would label as reclamation projects. A guy like CH who can't pay off a $50 debt after 18+ months... that's a pretty solid reclamation project there.

There certainly was a poster named Naomi at one time that came over from the Curly board. She is interesting, cute(if i recall correctly), and around our age although historically not very concise.

Either Naomi changed posting habits or she is letting someone else post under her old handle. Many people think that it is Chronic Husker because in the past, prior to Chronic welching on a bet she admitted that she let him post using her name.

I do not think that all Naomi posts are Chronic Husker posts, although I believe it still happens(and in addition Naomi had a certain posting style) which I think I did a pretty good job of copying in this post, but Chronic Husker has not been able to copy correctly.

Also it didn't contain the word "resonate". <_<

She posted a picture recently in a thread that quickly got buried by an unrelated slapfight where she was revealed to be a cross between Elizabeth Berkley and Molly Ringwald. :ninja:

The truth is CH hasn't posted under my handle since the one time we swapped handles several years ago. Maybe the more classic naomi posts are when I have more time on my hands. I've learned to keep some threads simple to begin with so they welcome many responses. I do like Star Trek, not in an avid watcher sense, but sometimes I feel like Data when he's trying to understand humans, while admidst you guys, hence choosing Data looking perplexed.

Nixing the explanation part. I'm not crazy about this area (although I guess it could be interesting, and is very interesting relative to my current job) but it's the one focus that someone I've been connected with has going right now, that would be the least time investment to expose my pr work (pr itself not the end goal) to people who'd consider paying for it. He's a consultant, he'll let me be in the fray, have a seat at the table. Impress or don't impress. So if I go for this one, I'll just start researching it, and asking FF guys seemed like a good first stop.

Sportsbooks are set up to take advantage of people. Are you okay with that?

Just pay up and you can come back under CH, no one will hold a grudge.

On this note, I do not know what CH is thinking. I do know that he hasn't decided to not square his debts. And what I do know of him/perceive from being around him is that there's no way he would hang around here posting as me in the meanwhile (let alone I am me, so I also know that from another, pretty solid angle). So I don't know what he's thinking on this note all around, just that he doesn't seem cool with it himself, for what that's worth.

How relevant are the books overall in sports betting and the future of it? I think there's a good chance this is a really dumb question. Have to start somewhere :ninja:

Lol wait, are you saying that you actively know him in real life? Is this the case? Its been 2 years, he aint paying his debts. No one expects him to, its just fun to rag on him.

They are basically the casino. Without sportsbooks there would be no sports betting.

Its ridiculous that it ever was illegal. Its one of the many things we never should have let government outlaw in the first place.

At the end of the day, How is sports betting any different than playing the stock market?

Or the lotto, which in most cases is run by the governement.

It's not. Lobbyists gonna lobby. It's why our pharmesuetical seems more like something a middle eastern country would have.

Wikihow has what seems like a pretty comprehensive article of the basics. First time I've read a Wikihow article that gives you tips on how to dodge the law though https://www.wikihow.com/Bet-on-Sports

If the future of it doesn't translate into less advantage being taken of people, it's an unenthusing place to start. Hard to put energy into that. If people are expecting to be taken advantage of and that's part of the game, then that's a little different.

Eta: I'm just assuming as more states legalize it there may be more online programs that are (or at least marketed as) less manipulated. Different profit structures for mediating the service.

Investing in stocks can be risky, but your are technically buying a piece of a company that has tangible assets, or a reasonable plan to attain said assets.

Sports gambling is a game of chance that lures fans who think they're experts on a particular sport. It's also a vehicle for degenerate gamblers to have constant action on something. For those reasons, it's highly profitable for the bookies.

Lottery is a world of it's own. Powerball has the lowest odds of all games of chance. It sucks people (particularly poor people) in by making them think a $2 ticket is going to instantly change their life. Sometimes a guy gets lucky and it does happen. But the other 290,000,000 times, it doesn't.

Having played all 3, I feel like they're pretty different.

It's only a few bucks and is convenient when I pick up my pack of smokes and 2 monsters at the gas station every morning.

Back at an old job, a guy I drove with was a notorious scratcher lotto fiend. Guy would buy an easy 50-80$ a day worth. His claim to,fame was one time he won 6k. Must have spent untold thousands more than that. Also would smoke and drink energy drinks.
