DETROIT -- A sports doctor accused of molesting several girls while working for USA Gymnastics and Michigan State University will plead guilty to multiple charges of sexual assault and face at least 25 years in prison, a person with knowledge of the agreement said Tuesday.
The person was not authorized to publicly discuss the agreement ahead of a Wednesday court hearing for Dr. Larry Nassar in Michigan's Ingham County and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.
Nassar, 54, is charged with molesting seven girls, all but one of whom were gymnasts, mostly under the guise of treatment at his Lansing-area home and a campus clinic. He's facing similar charges in a neighboring county and lawsuits filed by more than 125 women and girls.
Olympic gymnasts Aly Raisman, McKayla Maroney and Gabby Douglas are among the women who have publicly said they were among Nassar's victims.
The plea deal in Ingham County calls for a minimum prison sentence of 25 years, but a judge could set the minimum sentence as high as 40 years. In Michigan, inmates are eligible for parole after serving a minimum sentence.
The girls have testified that Nassar molested them with his hands, sometimes when a parent was present in the room, while they sought help for gymnastics injuries.
"He convinced these girls that this was some type of legitimate treatment," Assistant Attorney General Angela Poviliatis told a judge last summer. "Why would they question him? Why would they question this gymnastics god?"
Separately, Nassar is charged with similar crimes in Eaton County, the location of an elite gymnastics club. He also is awaiting sentencing in federal court on child pornography charges.

Rot in jail focker.

Completely fine with the death penalty in this case. Just be done with him.

Hey, it's not like he jacked off in front of them or something truly awful like that.

He should get additional charges for molesting those girls. :wall:

Nassar has also pleaded guilty to molesting gymnasts with his hands in the Lansing, Mich. area, under the guise of providing treatment. He will be sentenced in those cases in January.

I don't understand Cruzer's post vs. Edjr's post. Fed v. State?

And, since I'm not winning any awards for sensitivity anyway:

I'm sorry, 100 girls over 20 years - and NOBODY came forward?

Okay, let's say we give all the the girls a pass.

Lets ever been SUPER generous and give all the girls under 24 a pass.

That STILL leaves a bunch of grown-ass women - who knew what he was continuing to do - or at least have access to.

And, whilst we're at it - Not a SINGLE parent stepped forward in all this time?

We KNOW many (if not the majority) of those girls told their Mommy at least. Or a Friend, or a Cousin, Aunt...

I guess where I'm driving here is -

Don't ya think that in order for this much raping to go on for THIS long -

Mommy was so GD obsessed with little Heather making it to the Olympics (where Mom's living vicariously)

that there was quite a bit of 'grin and bear it' on the part of the parents too?

I'm sorry, this narrative doesn't pass any kind of scrutiny. - Certainly not 100+ times.

He deserves to be axx-raped daily. But GDamn, seems there's quite a bit of "me too! me too!" now.

- All this bullshiit about 'courage' and 'brave' and 'unified sisters', etc. -

Where the fock were you when outing this fock WASN"T trendy?

Where were YOU Mom, when you daughter was being diddled and you were so blind to bragging about your daughter in the Olympics?

Behaviors - especially in teen girls - change when this shiit's going on. There's a whole GD list of red-flag items.

Even IF (big if) the kid didn't say anything directly, seems like there was a LOT of conscious, willfull ignorance at play.

...But that would be wrong to say so.

Wiff, I ask the same questions. I think there are a lot more people who also need to be held accountable. Wasn't the American Gymnastics group responsible for sending many of these girls to dr freak? Line them all up.

As we have come to find out. it's the same as any institution/ organization that has children in it. Why the Catholic Church are the ones always singled out still isn't really accurately telling the story. You gotta watch your kids everywhere

I haven't read all the posts, but which type thread is this?

Is it one where Wiff blames 11 year old rape victims for not aggressively coming forward right away?

Is it one where a young girl made an accusation, and Wiff makes a comment about her wanting attention or being bitter about something?

Or is it one where girls that were raped when younger come forward later, and Wiff says he isn't buying it after all these years?

I take it wiff and you don't see eye to eye on molestation/sexual assault on girls/women? Don't worry; few of us do see things through his same viewpoint.

You know, this Judge is pretty nuts. Said things like Id let them do to you what you did to them and then, today, I just signed your death warrant.

Hardly judicious or impartial. This guy might have a hell of an appeal, much as it pains me to say.

I don't think this guy appeals. If he gets a new trial he has to sit through hearing how much of a s-bag he is again. He's better off in jail.

"it is my great pleasure " kind of an odd thing to say when handing down a sentence

Agreed.

That Dr. deserves his awful fate.

But the judge thinks shes Judge Judy or somehow part of the show.

Not Judicious at all.

What is the over/under on how long it takes before he's killed in prison?

Likely he kills himself in the first month.
