Le'Veon Bell - If you drafted him, how did you compensate for lost weeks?

Recommended Posts

If you drafted Bell, did you factor in his weeks off into how you drafted?

Do you think you compensated for this loss during the draft.

Meaning taking a RB with the intention of filling the early hole in the lineup.

Or

Did you draft it normal, with normal amount of depth at RB?

I ended up a little weak at rb in my last draft after bell. In non ppr Gore (I know i said i wasnt touching him but i hadnt taken another rb and fifth round was much better value than his current adp), woodhead, hillman, zenner, david johnson. I wasnt going to sacrifice value at other positions just to draft extra running backs early. I figured if i had strong receivers and a strong tight end in Graham, that would be my best way to make up for the two lost games.

I think D Willams won't do much at all . Just keep drafting and let the draft come to you .

it may have been a big deal when he was gonna miss 4 games. now he is missing 2.

I'd draft normal, grab a slightly higher calibre RB3 than I'd normally get so that he can step in and play for the 2 weeks he is gone.

that's it.

honestly, if you just want an extra player to cover him, Tre Mason is perfect. He will get the start for the first 3-4 weeks of the season, and will gradually lose carries as Gurley regains his health.

he's good for those first couple of weeks. and probably cheap.

what more do you want?

You worry too much. Take a hit from the bong and settle down.

Has Bell taught us nothing?

Lol Amen brother .

Yesterday, I just took him #4 overall in 12 Geeks, leaving Jamal Charles on the board. AP went first, then Lacy, then Antonio Brown.Where I go from here... I have no idea. I'm going to target DeAngelo but he won't be my #3 RB. If I like #3 better than DW, assuming I get him, that's the bye week guy.

I definitely wouldnt target Deangelo any higher than he normally goes. If its ppr i would honestly rather draft Dri Archer.

I took him #2 overall & didn't bat an eye. As mentioned earlier, it's only 2 games so the rest of my draft was "status quo".

The only way I'd see this as a problem is if you started out your draft with taking Bell & not grabbing another RB or 2 within the next 5-7 rounds.

I encountered a different problem with Le'Veon, whom I'll be keeping. One "draft" of my draft came back with RBs of Bell - Ingram - Vereen - Duke Johnson and then I discovered....each of these come saddled with a week 11 bye.

I orignally thought that the pre-Gurley Tre Mason might be an answer but he faces stiff run defenses from SEA and WAS in the suspension weeks of 1 & 2. However....Jonathan Stewart, Doug Martin and Chris Ivory are RBs I have an eye on who face reasonably accomodative defenses in weeks 1-2 and don't have byes that fall on week 11.

(First post. While I've enjoyed hanging out on the Yahoo message boards, that place feels like the old Curb Exchange compared to here which feels like being admitted to the NYSE itself. "G'morning, gentlemen." )

Uh, welcome. You deserve and I'd give you a heartier greeting, but you've got this place figured all wrong. We have a weird sense of humor and you have to be a little bit nuts to post here. But give us a shot anyways.

Sux about those byes. When I draft online, it's always at MFL and Bye week awareness is a priority there, so I always subconsciously pick up on it and avoid these problems.

As to your other point, it's very valid. Maybe when crunch time comes, it'd be better to swipe Alfred Blue from the Foster owner instead.

I had #3 AP and Lacey went 1-2 and I was conflicted between. Bell and Charles I went bell A move I already regret before a single snap...my goal was simple just go get some running bk depth after I build my core then the reaches begain... Gone went Martan And Ivory then some fools took D.willams in 7th Alferd blue gone same round so of course I went into full bore RB mode Nabbing Tre Mason/Ryan Mathews/bishup Sankey in consecutive picks witch of course killed my wr depth! Question is who do you like to get me through the first two weeks out of that group and who do you like long term? Save me fellas non PPR

I plan on taking bell #1 in my full ppr league and then hopefully filling it out with a guy like L. Murray, Martin, maybe even Ingram or stewart. And maybe even later getting an ivory or gurley instead so either way o should have a good start able rb to kick off the year with for two games. I plan on going bell then we in the 2nd and 3rd then rb wr in the 4th and 5th but that could always change.

Like i said, i wasnt going to sacrifice value at other positions to make sure i got a ton of rbs to replace Bell for 2 weeks. Its a heavy qb league so i did not want to pass on Ryan in the 6th. The 7th came around and Maclin was still there so i had to nab him based on the targets i thought he was going to see. The one guy i passed on was Martin who went in the 8th. I still wouldnt have drafted differenly besides maybe skip Gore altogether and draft Martin in the 5th. Thats hindsight for ya though.

I took Bell first in a 10-team league with big starting lineups and even bigger bench (25 total roster spots). Forsett fell all the way to the 2.10/3.01 turn, so it should be quite a pairing starting week 3.

To cover the suspension, I focused mostly on receiving backs who I figured would at least see 10-15 touches those weeks: Spiller, Woodhead, Duke Johnson. Injuries since the draft have kinda disrupted that idea, but Woodhead should be a-okay for two games if Spiller isn't ready for week 1.

I have Bell, Ivory, D. Martin, Tre Mason and Knile Davis as RB's.

I will fill in those 2 weeks with some combination of Ivory, Martin, Mason (or Davis if J. Charles gets hurt).

i drafted Bell, Forsett then grabbed Arian later on... Managed to get Devonta Freeman and Sankey who both should at least get the early season work hopefully. Cobble together something until those two guys are back in action.

Ivory is a perfect fill in.. First three games CLE, IND, PHI. Clear starter with no Ridley who is on PUP

I wouldnt be so quick to assume PHI is an easy defense to run on. Their defense looks good so far.

No one should leave their draft without at least 3 startable rbs so it shouldnt be a problem.

This especially for week one. Geeze!

You might be right on PHI and they might be up so much that you're throwing every down. I just noticed though.. i made a mistake, Bell is out only 2 weeks so you're looking at CLE who has the worst run defense and IND who belichek likes to make his little by running 40 times in a game.
