  1. We are looking for two new owners in our 12 team, salary cap league. It's a fun league that is active for much of the year due to the salary cap, three round rookie draft, holdouts as well as RFA and franchise tags. 32 player rosters with 17 starters (QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, TE, K, 3 DL, 3 LB, 3 DB). Good group of owners, $100 entry fee, full payout every year. We run the auction on ESPN and switch over to MFL to run the league. Email me at david.stringer@rbc.com

    2013 Early QB Rankings

Gonzo has played at a Pro Bowl level during his time in Atlanta. There is no way that they his replacement will produce at those levels if he retires. Jones may pick up some of the slack and they may get more out of the running back position but they won't be able to get Pro Bowl quality production from a replacement tight end. Gonzo is old but he is still playing very well.

    2013 Early QB Rankings

Brady, Brees and Rodgers make up the top tier of fantasy quarterbacks for 2013. After that, four through nine are pretty close together and you could make the argument that the next tier should include Eli, Romo, Freeman, Wilson, Dalton and perhaps Roethlisberger. I think Luck proved that he will belong in consideration for being included in the second tier of NFL quarterbacks in 2013 and with no top notch talent at RB, the Colts will throw it plenty next season. Wilson has looked good this season but I expect defenses will key a little more on him next season by taking away his throwing lanes. Freeman was enjoyed a solid season before going through a five game slump to end the season.

    Early Rankings - Running Backs

Pavlov, I cherry-picked those stats (what FF writer doesn't?????) to point out that Wells was a decent fantasy producer as the undisputed starter in 2011 but his performance last season does not merit him having a workhorse back type role in 2012 and Ryan Williams returning from injury makes it easy for the Cardinals to add competition for him. That pushes him down the rankings. On the other hand, Greene loses his top backup and the Jets currently have a pair of unproven backups behind him. Of course, he's not moving up because of the presence of Tim Tebow.

    Early Rankings - Running Backs

Hi guys, Thanks for the comments on my article. Here are some responses to your comments. Sjax - Well, the Rams are my team and I have him ranked pretty low because I do not expect their passing offense to be very good (no WRs, disappointing 2nd yr TE) and I do expect the Rams to finally address the backup RB situation. Chris Johnson - As I noted, his ego is too big to not expect a bounceback, the offensive line should be better, he's a workhorse back and, as some of you have noted, there are issues with the talented players behind him in the rankings. RunDMC - Perhaps the most talented running back in the league but I knocked him down due to the injury factor. Much like Ahmad Bradshaw, it doesn't matter if your solid backup leaves when you can't stay healthy. Charles - I expect the Chiefs to bring him along slowly early in the season so that dampers his prospects. Richardson - A lot of the recent rookie running backs have struggled. Richardson either lands as a workhorse back in a bad offense in Cleveland or the lead role in what could be a solid Tampa offense but with Blount taking a reasonable amount of the carries. Dave

    Ideas to Avoid Bad Trades?

Okay. So far we have: 1. no trading of future picks during the season, 2. veto all trades Vetoing all trades is extreme but perhaps no trading of picks makes sense. As for the other responses, getting better owners is awfully difficult. That seems to happen as a league matures but these leagues won't be around if these trades keep happening. One bad one leads to another bad one because then it's okay because somebody else did it. Respect the league. Don't offer a bad deal and don't accept a bad deal just because it's the only deal you've been offered.

    Ideas to Avoid Bad Trades?

I'm looking for ideas to avoid bad trades in my salary cap, dynasty league. We just had a deal where Brady, LT, Benson, BJGE were swapped for injured players in the final year of their contracts, a 1st in next year's rookie draft and Ben Tate (3 more years). The league is on fire. It's the worst trade that I've ever seen. Looking for ideas to avoid these kinds of scenarios. Got any?
  8. A few sites actually nailed the fact that it was time to quit going heavy on taking RBs early and start looking at how it's much easier to predict which WRs will fall in the top 10 or top 20. Do a search for draft strategy - maybe these guys had it right.

Seriously FFToday, Wes Welker #12? Comeon!

If you set yourself up properly on FFToday, you can input the scoring for each of your league's and then the rankings will automatically be adjusted.

    McNabb

Baskett isn't a terrible replacement for Curtis and it's important to remember that LJ Smith is back and that it looks like Jackson is ready to contribute from the slot. So, although losing Curtis hurts, the reality is that McNabb probably has better weapons at this point than he had in 2007.

is julius jones going to lose his battle

Here's a better question - does Maurice Morris have a chance of keeping the starting gig? I like Jones' prospects much better than Morris'.

    Trade - Jennings for Jacobs

I can trade Jennings and get Jacobs in a cap, keeper league. Players cost roughly the same amt and are signed for two years. 1/2 pt per reception. Thoughts?

Looking for this year's Fast Willie Parker

    1. Morency in Houston - Davis' knees are messed up. 2. Gado - Davenport's injury prone and Green hasn't put up numbers even when healthy, which he's not. 3. Houston in New York - Blaylock's a career backup, Washington's too small to be the featured guy, Martin might retire. Houston's all they have unless.... 4. Brown gets traded to the Jets. I guess that's not a sleeper. 5. William Green - Droughns might get suspended and Green currently is 2nd on the depth chart ahead of Suggs & Harrison. 6. Norwood in Atlanta - if Dunn gets hurt, he will likely step in, allowing Duckett to remain the short yardage and inside the 20 guy. 7. Mewelde Moore - is Taylor really that good? 8. Bell in Denver, although I think he'll start the season on the bench.
  14. Furrey was an Arena League WR who made the Rams a few years back as their 5th guy. They converted him to safety last year because he wasn't going to beat out Curtis, Macdonald or Looker so he would have been the 6th WR. He knows Martz' offense plus he is a good ST player which helps his case.
