NorthernVike 2,079 Posted September 21, 2018 High level dealers go away for a long, long time, mid level for less if they flip, treatment for addicts. And it would be great if idiots like our former president stop saying wholesale trafficking in narcotics is a non violent crime. And legalize weed, but you can't smoke it in public. Wouldn't legalizing mj accomplish the same thing (eliminate big time pot dealers)and be a net positive to government budgets. Plus, your way has been proven not to work so well. And no, im not for legalization of hard drugs.

So the laws against heroin and other hard drugs has no affect on its usage by the population? If it was legal there wouldn't be a surge in use?
wiffleball 4,631 Posted September 21, 2018 So the laws against heroin and other hard drugs has no affect on its usage by the population? If it was legal there wouldn't be a surge in use? Bad example. Since it started cutting down on opioids, heroin is going through the roof. Worse than the 70s.
Hardcore troubadour 12,576 Posted September 21, 2018 Bad example. Since it started cutting down on opioids, heroin is going through the roof. Worse than the 70s. And much of it is purchased legally. The legal experiment is playing out as we speak. It's not working out so well.

I think if you took the money put into the war against them and put it into education and treatment you would see less, yes.

Like I said earlier, we are in the midst of a legalization experiment right now and it's a disaster. Much worse if it were legal on the retail market. We have 330 million and a large urban population. Plus legal opiods are a disaster as is in this country.
