Big Guy 1,400 Posted July 14, 2018 I've been busier than usual lately so I'm not sure what's going on with NFL Network Flag Football, but it seems they're "normalizing it" lol as if that's all we're going to have someday. I haven't watched any of it but am I right that there are actual NFL players playing? anybody?

Big Guy 1,400 Posted July 14, 2018 Trying to make it popular for younger people to play to hold off on when they start tackle. That was my 1st thought that it's furthering the line of thinking that REAL football is bad for society. In essence continuing to demonize "toxic masculinity" that the left has been pushing lately. Sad

cyclone24 1,811 Posted July 14, 2018 Didn't know pussification was taking CTE seriously considering how many ex nfl guys with it kill themselves or others. Or how.bout those poosy veterans with their PTSD? Bet they chaffe your arse too? Christ...how bout it's 2018 and we know a heck of a lot more than we did even 10 years ago about this stuff. wiffleball 4,635 Posted July 14, 2018 Forgot who it was, I think it's Disney just made a monster investment in eleague or something like that. I've been saying on this board for years that's the direction the ESPN Executives see things going. I'm not saying they're right where they're wrong. But if you go to Japan, they are feeling stadiums of these crazy Slants just watching other guys play video games on giant monster screens. Craziness. But I swear to Christ, Disney's investment just confirmed that that's what ESPN had in mind all along. , this world continues to find new ways to disappoint me every day. So while ten years ago I would have said no way in hell? For all I know that's exactly where we're going to be in another 10 years. Jesus I'm hoping for an aneurysm any day now.
Djgb13 2,338 Posted July 14, 2018 Im hon stay torn on this issue. On one hand I played tackle and want my son to play tackle like I did early on. On the other hand, the data is too overwhelming on CTE and I wouldnt want my son to experience that or become a littl poosay whos afraid of taking a hit. So then what age should they be allowed to play tackle? 11-12?

So then what age should they be allowed to play tackle? 11-12? The data on CTE is based on small samples of hand picked NFL players. It is far from complete. The problem with kids starting tackle at 12 or 14 (people just pick random numbers) is that they now have to learn how to block and tackle against other kids. The first couple of years, kids do it wrong. If they start when they are younger, the forces are much smaller and I believe safer.

Turns out the phone alone Dash cerebal cortex that is responsible for decision-making and emotions and whatnot doesn't fully form in a guy until he's about 21 years old. So there's an argument that damage incurred before it's fully formed is actually worse. But agree with you totally that the Sciences way way behind the headlines these days.
