Who fell the furthest in your draft

Recommended Posts

Think it will be interesting to see who is sliding in live drafts

For me:

Mark Ingram: Round 8 pick 9 (pick 93)

I already had Bell, Gurley, and Powelll.....(pick 2 in serpentine)

Round 8? Wow. I figured he'd drop, but didnt think he'd fall that far.

In my 10 team league Demarco Murray fell to me at 3.08 then I got Henry way down in like round 10. Couldn't believe he was still there.

Biggest reach was McCaffery at 5th overall.

Holy moly that's even worse than the great Ameer Abdullah hype train his rookie year.

Just got Allen Robinson at the end of round 8 in a 10-team PPR.

The guy is an elite talent he just needs to get fed (accurately.)

Bortles is on a short leash so i'm buying.

Hard to believe that Bortles has looked to awful.

But he's diffently in trouble of losing his job.

Because of that uncertainty at the QB postion i don't have a lot of faith in Robinson who has problems just catching the ball.

In a ten team leagues round eight for Robinson is still a steal.

Allen Robinson was un-startable last year. Congrats?

You're in a tough league with smart owners. I do NOT want in your league.

In the 8th round or so, you should be peppering in some dart throws like that, so I have no issues with it.

Hitting on upside picks like that are the ones that win you championships.

And even if you miss, it's just a bench spot anyways so it's risk you can afford. It's not like missing on him last year with a 2nd rd price tag.

I'm not throwing darts in the 8th round. I watched the guy who drafted Robinson last year never play him. That's not a dart I'm willing to thrown. I guess I've got Arob on my DND. Like every year with all Jags.

when I say "throwing darts," I mean it to the extent that a guy can significantly outperform his ADP.

if you're in the 8th rd already, you're choosing between guys like Desean Jackson, Pierre Garcon, Eric Decker, Jeremy Maclin. Those are fine players, but they're not going to grow into WR1s; they'll provide steady WR3/4 production for the year and pepper in a few bigger weeks, while you just hope that you have them in your lineups when those big weeks happen.

Then there's the "dart throw" guys that can grow into a WR1 if certain things go right. It's higher risk of course, but the potential reward is greater if/when those hit. If I already have a rock solid team through the first 7 rounds, I'd much rather spend a dart throw near this part of the draft then just take another "reliable" guy like those that will be on the board at the same time.

And I'm not specifically meaning to advocate for Robinson, just what he represents. A guy that was the previous year a Top 5 or so at his position, that had a bad year. Same boat Demarco Murray was in last year, and that worked out great.

That's all I was saying.

In my draft Sunday Keenan Allen and Allen Robinson dropped like rocks. I don't love Allen but when he was sitting on the board at 8.5 in a 12 team non-PPR I had to pull the trigger. Allen Robinson also dropped until early 6th round.

He was unstartable last year you're absolutely right but he was also a top 10 WR just the year before with the same QB so what gives? He's very young and the talent is evident if you watch him play. He does everything you want from a stud WR, size, speed, hands, and ability to separate from defenders. He also doesn't have the injury history of let's say a Keenan Allen. It's just a matter of improving QB play which I'm gambling on. I don't think Bortles can be as bad as he was last year but if he is, Jax coaching staff already said he's on a short leash, which bodes well for ARob.

He doesn't need to be as good as 2015 ARob to return value in the 8th round.

I feel bad for people who draft so early. That's just turrrible.

Doesn't bother me at all. It's my favorite part of fantasy football and I do more than one. Have to start a little early sometimes to drat in multiple leagues and fit everyone's schedule. I've got my second draft this Saturday.

I could maybe understand mock drafts, but an actual draft. A lot of unknowns and injuries.

Though, my league places a premium on the draft. Thus, it's harder to pick up guys on the WW.

We always draft on Saturday of Labor Day weekend.

That sounds like an ideal time for it but it can be hard for many others. That's a very busy time of the year for a lot of people, especially all of my friends.

Same time every year for 27 years. lol

We have had about 4 guys not show up for the draft. Keeper league so they had to make trades and do whatever to fill out their starting lineup and then selected backups from the remaining pool of players.

We have had a guy's wife fill in and draft his team for him. lol I think he was in the hospital.

We had one attend the draft by phone as he was out of state, it was awkward and difficult and we said no more of that. lol

I will be happy to take in the 8th. He has talent and gets targets that equals good numbers if the qb can perform.

To your point his targets in 2016 were exactly the same number as 2015 and he actually had less drops this past year than his breakout 2015 year. You're looking at a bye week replacement / bench flex player with potential to be your best WR.

Players who I thought fell a bit in my 12 team ppr, keeper league: It is a keeper league where each team gets 2 keepers so the rounds are a bit skewed compared to a re-draft.

-CJ Anderson, late 5th

-Derrick Henry, 9th

-Randal Cobb, 9th

-Doug Martin, 9th

-Theo Riddick, 11th

-CJ Prosise, 13th

-Eli Manning, late 13th

LOL we have very similar RB. I have Bell, Gurley, and Ingram and a rookie RB.

Ingram fell to the 7th round, in a 12 team PPR league I had first pick that round so I pulled the trigger.

Demaryius Thomas also fell to the 5th round, pick #5 so I grabbed him there as well. His ADP in a 12 team PPR should have been 3.10

Eli Manning NEVER gets any love.

Never.

Just 2 years ago he threw for 4400/35TD's. He had a bad year last year, they added weapons (Marshall will be a RZ monster) and he goes in the 13th round.

Yes, please.

In the last seven years he finished 21st, 10th, 11th, 21st, 12th, 6th and 10th in my league. Pretty much a QB1 other than two bad years but the issue I always had with Manning is how inconsistent he is during the season. That season two years ago you mentioned he had 7 games below 20 points and 5 of those were less than 15 points.

Wether you like it, accept it or not, you are always throwing darts in the 8th round. The whole draft is throwing darts at that stage, and earlier even if you want to get really real.

Exactly. You should have your starting RBs and WRs by then, maybe even your starting QB and TE too.

I don't think it hurts. Bortles is garbage.

Chad Henne is a great garbage time QB. Anyone remember Cecil Shorts ? Henne was the one tossing him the ball.

I think this will help Hurns. It will probably hurt Robinson.

I was wrong about Bortles.

He's been replaced by Henne.

I think this will destroy a lot of the value from any jags wr and even Fournette.

It will hurt Fournette for sure. Garbage time carries only happen if the team is winning or losing so bad that it doesnt matter.

I disagree. I think the change of QB only helps the Jags offense. Bortles was THAT bad.

Addition by subtraction. You don't get worse by removing the cancer.

Mmm I think in R8 you're still drafting backup positions in most leagues, like your QB2, RB3/WR3 flex type positions.

I got Stafford in R8, I feel pretty good about that right now.
