Fitzmagic past week 4?

Recommended Posts

Anyone trusting Fitz past week 4? Week 5 is a bye. If they are bring Jameison back it would make sense to do it week 6. I hate carrying two QB's so would have to pick up a bench QB now in preparation for dropping Fitz.

Absolutely trusting him. Look at what he has done and look at the toys he has to play with.

so - you expect him to keep the job after the week 5 bye?

Is that seriously what people are getting for Fitz these days? I need to start shopping him around.

Nah they aren’t getting that. They are keeping Hunt and starting whatever Ryan, Rivers they already have happily.

Exactly my concern. Will he be the starter in week 5. I've heard they will move back to Jamison

Say he goes 3 and 1. How do you with him and tell your team with a straight face you are trying to win?

Here's to hoping Fitz can get the W in Chicago. If so, I expect he would keep the job after the bye and be at the helm for the shootout in Atlanta.

I'm probably playing Wilson over Fitz this week, but want the 400+ Fitz in week 6. C'mon Fitz!!

Rode him to a couple of victories, and enjoyed the ride. However, just dropped him for Mayfield....and couldn't be happier.

Love the guy, but with Winston hovering in the background, I will take my chances on the stability and upside of Mayfield, whom I expect to be spectacular..

TB should roll with Fitz as long as they can or until he proves that he should not have the job. The last thing TB wants to do is roll out Winston and have him suck or do something stupid off the field. Then have to go back to Fitz when there was no reason to bench him to begin with.

If both of them were FA I would be going after Fitz.

If the coaching staff has any intelligence they'll stick with him. He was an int or a drive away from being 3-0 against good playoff caliber teams. The three straight 400 yard games should be enough but can't trust some people's judgement sometimes. I'm playing him as to me he's playing like a must start regardless of the matchup.

Nope.

I think Winston will get his job.

Would you do a trade of Fitzmagic for Hunt?

Do you really have a owner this willing to do that trade?

Tampa has a bit of a Cleveland syndrome, where they kind of do dumb things. They may just pull Fitz for Winston. But, that said, maybe they want Winston in so he can help them get a better draft pick next year.

My guess is Fitz loses the job soon. So since I'm hurting at qb I'm dropping Theo Riddick for Winston now. Hoping that I'm beating the waiver wire

Well, Winston is the future of this team, so you have to assume Fitz on short leash. If Bears win, and they are favored to do so, then it is certain Winston starts week 6. I like Fitz, and he has his moments. But lets be real- If he really was this good he would be a Franchise QB for someone at this point.

yes. His QB's are Mariota and Carr. The thing about Fitz.....Koetter is coaching for his job. He needs to win now! So whatever decision he makes, will decide if he has a job at the end of the season. Like they said Monday night, if Gruden had wanted to come back to Tampa, Dirk would have been fired. So imo, he will ride Fitzmagic until he runs out of those magic bullets he has been slinging.

it's just my opinion, but there are some facts to back it up. I believe after the bye that this becomes Winston's team. Fitz is hot BECAUSE of the toys at his disposal. Winston will have the same toys, but he's flat out better at using them. I heard a statement that Fitz is leading the league in deep passes this year. Historically speaking Jameis Winston is nearly 10% better on deep throws than Fitz, and has (I believe) the most in the NFL over the last 3 years. I personally think Jameis is going to put up similar #'s to Fitz after he takes the reins back.

I'm not sold that TB is sold that Winston is the future. His on field performance has been up and down at best and his off field problems have become a problem. Few teams want off field character issues from a franchise QB.

teams want to win, and Fitz is a journeyman for a reason. I'm not saying Winston is necessarily their future, but Fitz certainly isn't.

We shall see on Fitz. He may not be their future but he may get it done for them this year. I just wouldn't be hasty as a fantasy owner and drop him until you know what they're really going to do.

That's not necessarily true. There's a real chance that the Bucs make the playoffs with Fitz at QB. Winston's contract for next year is only guaranteed if he gets hurt. If the Bucs are winning, Winston will never see the field this season. If that happens, there's a chance they either move him in the off season or draft someone to replace him for 2020 and the future.

This really isn't true. Fitz clearly uses his weapons way better than Winston ever did. Winston was never able to connect with Jackson last year. That's the biggest reason why Winston only won 1 more game than Fitz last year, even though Fitz started only 3 games. It's also the reason the Bucs beat the Saints and Eagles. Make no mistake... the Bucs are 0-3 right now if Winston never got suspended.

Teams want to win "now", not specifically the future. Fitz is the "now" and Winston certainly isn't. If Fitz wins "now", Winston won't be the future either.

The statement that Winston is "flat out better at using them" is very much in dispute. Winston certainly has the advantage in physical gifts but decision making has been decidedly in Fitz's favor. If Tampa can win at Chicago they would be insane to make a switch.

You do make a good point though, I think I will try to pick up Winston when he gets the job. Tampa looks to be a good QB gig - poor running, fluid D, and multiple receiving options.

Fitz will be 36 in Nov. He is not going to be a long term solution. Winston may not either, but TB has a strong incentive to give him a chance to be the guy since if hes not theyre in the QB wilderness

All reports out of Tampa in the preseason was that Winston looked outstanding. I know people are blinded by the #'s that Fitz has put up, but Winston would be stepping into the exact same situation...and has historically been one of the better downfield chunkers of the ball. Again, Fitz is what he is.

Winston did look great... against 2nd units. The thing you're overlooking is that Fitz looked better vs the 1's than Winston did vs the 2's and 3's. I have no doubt that Winston would have been very productive these first 3 weeks, but another thing I have no doubt of is that the Bucs would be 0-3. Winston does not start off well. Winston also is very turnover prone. Winston struggles to get Jackson the ball down field. ALL THREE of those characteristics is what DIDN'T show up in Weeks 1 and 2 and why the Bucs won.

I'm amazed at how fast people are so quick to jump on Fitzpatrick about the turnovers, but ignore that same characteristic when talking about Winston. In 45 career games, Winston has 44 Ints and 14 fumbles. In only 13 games last year, Winston lead the NFL with 15 fumbles and 7 lost. So, at 58 turnovers in 45 games - that's 1.288 turnovers per game, which is virtually identical to Fitzpatrick's 1.294 (176 turnovers in 136 games).

Of course, the rationale would be... "well, Winston is young and he'll get better". Yeah? When? In 2015, he had 19 turnovers, in 2016, he had 21. Last year he had 18 (in only 13 games). Not seeing any signs of that yet. Winston is a 24 year old version of Ryan Fitzpatrick. So, what it all boils down is.... do you want the more veteran savvy version or the more reckless version? Me? I'll take the older version, then in the off season, I'll look for another guy.

Winston had the same toys last year and was horrible. what changed?

yes he had a few 300 plus 3 td games followed up by huge stinkers.

has anyone thought the head coach is playing for wins and his job with Fitzpatrick. Yes i know Fitz is old and it won't last forever but they should be 3-0 if not for holding on a punt return, fumbles, tipped ball for int, drop pass in end zone. Yes the pick six was horrid but fitz play has been awesome so far.

yes i own him in both leagues. and i owned crab claws winston too last year. very unpredictable and corny with pregame pump u up talks too. Wish someone could find Winston pregame talk at Saints last year.....something about eating Chicken Wings....??? uber driver....no thanks.

Well said. Winston is not someone I can count on to deliver the goods. Let Fitz ride the wave for as long as he is able to. At 35, he is old...ask Peyton, Brady, Brees, and Eli.
