God hates Mexicans

ATZALA, MEXICO
A child's baptism turned into tragedy when the roof of a church collapsed as a powerful earthquake shook central Mexico. Eleven members of a family died, including the 2-month-old girl being christened.
The only survivors were the girl's father, the priest and the priest's assistant, the Archdiocese of Puebla said Wednesday. At least four minors were among the dead.
"It was a scene of horror, sadness with most of the people inside the church dying," priest's assistant Lorenzo Sanchez told The Associated Press.
Sanchez said those who survived moved to the edges of the church when the swaying started while those who died didn't have time to do so.
"One of the things they taught us is to stick to the firm walls of our church, which is old and its structure a bit deteriorated," he said.
When the ground stopped shaking, people called for help using loudspeakers and residents of nearby communities quickly arrived in Atzala with shovels, pickaxes and chains to haul away rubble.
They dug for hours through the crumbling remains of the Santiago Apostol church but found the 11 relatives had died.
Covered in dust and exhausted, the rescuers laid the bodies out on the same street where a party was meant to be held after the baptism. They covered them with canvas to protect them from the rain.
Family members of the dead traveled overnight from other states to attend Wednesday's wake in Puebla, the state capital where mourners said a final goodbye to their loved ones.
Each coffin had a name attached: Florencio, Fidela, Aurelia, Manuela, Maria de Jesus, Carmen, Samuel, Azucena, Feliciana, Susana and Elideth — the girl who was to be baptized.
Tuesday's magnitude 7.1 quake was centered in Puebla state, where it killed more than 40 people. Across Mexico it killed more than 200 people.
In Mexico City, rescue efforts continued Wednesday at a primary and secondary school where 25 bodies had been found and a young girl was located alive amid the rubble.

Horribly sad.. I was watching this morning about the (still) trapped kids in the school.. I can't even imagine what it must be like as a parent, or rescuer, to hear them calling for help - and not being able to reach them. :(

Terrible.

but why would god allow this to happen in his church? clearly he turned a blind eye.

it's bad enough he ordered the earthquake for Mexico. He couldn't make sure a 2 year old wasn't harmed?

Bad dude

Maybe if the Vatican would spread a little of their wealth around and fix up some of these dumpy ass third world churches full of poor children born because mommy and daddy were told condoms are of the devil, this wouldn't have happened.

A side note, just this morning I'm shredding junk mail and my shredder jams. WTF? Ten minutes later as I finally get it unjammed, it's a gold colored quarter sized coin in an envelope from the Catholic Relief Services looking for a 35 dollar donation. Fock you mother fockers. You're lucky I don't send you a repair bill. The third largest landowners on the planet is the Catholic Church. Sell some property. Stop looking for a handout.

Are you catholic? If you are, you are entitled to say that. If not, you're not. Join the club, pay the dues if you want to have a say. If not, your opinion is shite.

I went to mass in bfe Philippines with the girl once. It p!ssed me off.

The focking back wall was covered in gold. The place had jewels and gold everywhere. Priest was in a ridiculously fancy vestement.

And the parishioners are as poor as poor gets. Like families of ten (because birth control is evil!) living on rice in a one room hut kind of poor.

And here they are, stuffing money into that basket, that they passed no less than five focking times. She put money in. I refused.

Her family kind of looked at me funny for refusing. After mass was over, I asked my girl who the poorest person in the place was. She pointed to a woman with five kids. Husband was recently killed.

I slipped a wad of cash into her purse when she wasnt looking. Maybe $50, which will feed those kids for several months.

Those priests should be ashamed of themselves.

My choice. You should worry about your own money and how you spend your time. The church has no affect on you. Myob.

In America, that is true.

In many countries through the world, it is not. In many countries, the churches rules on birth control lead to heinous poverty. And in many, they refuse to allow divorce, which creates some really bad situations.

Well, as far as divorce, the church allows it now, it just doesn't allow you to re-marry in the church, but you can partake in the sacraments and take holy communion. If the churches in those countries are doing something else they aren't following the cannon. And sorry, people don't use rubbers because they suck. They aren't supposed to be having pre-marital sex to begin with.

I didn't mean to touch a nerve. We disagree but I respect that you would defend your religion. My apologies.

Nobody said anything about premarital sex. The birth control ban includes the pill and vasectomies and applies to married people as well.

No problem. I see your point and have made some of the same observations. I always say that if Jesus does come back, (fairy tales I know) he's going to be pissed when he sees the wealth of his church and the poverty of his flock. But its a bit much the criticism the church gets from everyone. They really don't get in people's face too much. They have issues, but I'll say they do more good than harm at this point in history. Not so much in the past. And the pedophilia was handled horribly. And they heard about it from many of the members of the church.

Youre right probably. And the same or similar is true of every other religious group as well. The church just gets more flak because they are the biggest.

The population issue isn't from married people. You can't say the church is causing it when the very act of sex before marriage is prohibited. You don't get to claim you're adhering to a rule while your breaking one first. Don't break the first rule and the one that follows won't be necessary.

My dad was a pastor when I was growing up. I was raised protestant and honestly my knowledge and opinions of the Catholic Church are based solely on minimal observation. I agree with the criticism of Christianity in general being a bit much and I shouldn't have piled on. I feel the same when people point to mega churches and assume that's how all pastors live. No, it's not. Definitely not from my experience at least. Hopefully at the end of it all God knows our hearts and shows mercy. Especially for me cause I'm gonna need lots of mercy.

Look at catholic countries all across the world. Latin America. Asia. Africa.

You will see a bunch of poor ass people with ten focking kids. Because they cant use birth control (thats not all on the church, but is certainly hurts) and they sure arent gonna stop focking.

My fiancée has ten siblings. They were poor as Fock. She says it is common in her country that men will have families with multiple women, because they cant divoce their wives, and they just leave and knock up rheir gf.

Its really more a problem of church intervention in the government.

My favorite thing ever attributed to Jesus, in the gnostic gospels I think, is "you will not find me in a house of wood and stone, but in your heart". Or something like that. I think he was saying that the church isn't about stuff. It's about how we treat each other. That being said, I traded Sammy Watkins the other day. Jesus fockin Christ!

I don't know. It doesn't seem that way in Africa. Could be though.

I have him in one league and started him as my other receivers are absolute garbage. In another I had Gurley and I was wishing he'd get those other 2 touchdowns but 32.90 points is none too shabby.
