The protection rules were much different to allow the team to be more competitive from the beginning instead of a doormat... Though this was unexpected for sure... Years of sports betting (mostly on the Capitals because of Ovechkin's scoring) and hating the idea of Ovechkin becoming the Dan Marino of the NHL.... I'm a fan. It's like basketball if you had 8000 turnovers a game that led to not being able to Fast Break past anyone and then also not score.
