Summary

Welcome to Fantasy Football for 2013. This league will use the myfantasyleague.com website which is considered one of if not the best fantasy football website for dedicated fantasy football leagues. The price for the website is of considerable value considering everything that MFL does when compared to other websites that charge much more for the same or inferior service. This league has been in existence since 1996 and was originated and still well represented from members in or have ties to Southeastern South Dakota. Members have ranged from South Carolina to Indiana to Minnesota to California or anywhere in between. There will be an online draft on the League Website in late August or early September.

Rules

1. Division Allignment/Playoff Brackets:

There will be two divisions of 5 teams each with the top 6 teams making the playoffs. Each Division Winner will be seeded 1st and 2nd and receive a first round bye. The 3rd and 4th seeds will be the second place teams in each division. The 5th and 6th seeds will be based on the top remaining wild cards regardless of division. Whichever Division has the #1 seed will play the bracket with the 3rd or 4th seed that comes from the same division. The wildcards will be matched up depending on Victory Points with the highest seeded wildcard team playing the #4 seed and the lowest seeded wildcard teams playing the #3 seed. The top six teams will qualify for the playoffs by the following formula called Victory Points (similar to hockey).

1. Victory Point Playoff Format:

The playoff system and standings for the league will be based on a Victory Point system. For each weekly match up each team may earn a total of 2 possible Victory Points for the week. One Victory Point will be earned by winning the head to head match up for the week. Another Victory Point will be earned for finishing in the top half (5) of fantasy points for the week. The top 5 plus ties will each earn a Victory Point for the week. If there is a 2 or 3 way tie for 5th all tied teams will earn the full point. ½ a point will only be earned if two teams tie in their head to head match up for the week. The standings will be calculated on a weekly basis throughout the year based on the accumulated Victory Point totals. The season will consist of 13 regular season weeks which are weeks 1-13 of the NFL season. The fantasy playoffs will consist of weeks 14-16 of the NFL schedule.

Playoff Tiebreakers are as follows:

Victory Points

Win/Loss Percentage

Head to Head Record Amongst Tied Teams

Division Record (when applicable)

Total Fantasy Points Scored

These tiebreakers will be used to not only break ties to determine which teams qualify for the playoffs and seedings but also to select a winner in a playoff matchup that ends in a tie score.

1. Auction Draft:

The draft will consist of 18 rounds and will be done in auction format. The order of selection for the draft will be done by random draw. The order of draw determines the order of teams and when they get to pick their auction postions and divisional alignment slots. The draft order is simply the order that fantasy owners get to nominate players. The auction dollar amount cap is $275.00which equates to an average of about $15 per player. The auction will be of open bidding. When an owners turn comes up they will put up any player of their choosing and start with an opening bid. There is no specific order that bids need to be increased nor is their a maximum amount a bid can be increased. The minimum bid increase is $1.00 which is also the minimum dollar amount that a player can be bought. The bidding will continue until no one further increases a bid at which time the player will be sold to the highest bidder.

Starting Lineups:

A valid starting lineup will consist of QB, RB, WR/TE, K, defense / special teams, and 2 flex players. Each participant will start 10 players. The 10 players are as follows:
QB-1, RB-2, WR/TE-3, K-1, D-1, 1 flex player (QB/RB/WR/TE) and 1 super flex player (RB/WR/TE/K/Def-Spec teams).
Starting lineups must be in by 11:55 CST on Sunday each week. When there is a Thursday or Saturday game, you must have the players involved in those games in your starting lineup before kickoff of that game. The players you activate to start the previous week will stay active the following week and so on until you manually edit your starting lineup each week. The commissioner will not replace a player on your team if you forgot to start the correct player once the game has begun.

1. Transactions:

There will be FIFTEEN transactions (free agent acquisitions) allowed per team until noon of week 17. All transactions are free. Rosters will consist of no more than 18 players, so if you wish to acquire a player, you must drop a player from your roster. The free agent acquisition period will last from 10PM Central time Wednesday night until 12PM Central Time the following Sunday. During this time period, you will request a free agent while specifying whom you will drop. All dropped players must wait a minimum of 3 days before being allowed to be picked up by another team. If more than one team is interested in the same free agent, the person with the lowest total points will be awarded that player. During non first come first serve period the player requests will be queued up and awarded based on the waiver priority order. Preseason Free agents acquisitions are first come first serve until noon of week 1. All transactions will be monitored by the commissioner to deter teams from dumping their team, giving up, or making inequitable agreements with other teams. The waiver period will last from kickoff of the 12PM games on Sunday to Wednesday night.

1. Trades:

Trades may be completed in the league and are not limited in number but they must be free of collusion and not involve personal favors such as beer, IOU’s, money under the table, etc. Trades must strictly be made player(s) for player(s) but may also include transactions to even out a deal. The Trade Deadline will be 12 PM of week 12. On the web site the league setting is set to commissioner decision for trade decisions but will in actuality be put up to a league vote. For all veto votes a detailed explanation will be needed in order for the vote to count. If a trade is extremely one sided or collusion is suspected the commissioner may require an explanation from the trading teams as to how they expect to benefit from the trade from a fantasy perspective. All trades must be made for the benefit of all teams involved in the trade.

1. What to Expect From The Commissioner:

As Commissioner I will put the betterment of the league as the top priority when making any league wide decisions. Most of the time that may involve taking the majority opinion but at other times may include standing up for the minority team(s) if needed. I am flexible but also follow the league rules involving any league disputes. I am dedicated as Commissioner to make this as positive of an experience as I can. I can’t guarantee that you will win but I can guarantee that each team will be treated fairly. I have experience running multiple fantasy leagues and have taken a lot of what I learned from previous experiences and used that knowledge to set up this league. As far as the League web site is concerned I believe that it is remarkable that it is able to handle the league setup that we have without a hitch. For the overall experience is will be worth the money that it costs. There are so many different options for both the owner and the commissioner that I am rather blown away by it. Thank You for being a part of the league and good luck with you team.
