Second of all... some dumb fock made an obamasuxballs alias which my boyfriend told me about and that people were saying it was me (if I were going to create an alias... it would be funny. My boyfriend and I actually just spent the last weekend dealing with the fact that his 36 year old cousin (who was in perfect shape) dropped dead of a heart attack and me baking for the memorial service and then going to the memorial service, etc. etc.

 

Third of all... Last week I gave my log in information to a person who was quite inebriated at the time and apparently went focking nuts in my account. And I must admit I was LMAO when I saw it. Like a retard giggle fit. I am amazed my account wasn't banned for it. However, I have tried to delete all of the posts made that night because they were focking disgusting and I felt bad for anyone that may have wanted to discuss things in those threads and had to look at the disgustingness of those videos. Giggle fit... but I still can empathize.

I felt like a loser for coming to FFT Geek Bored every day and looking at the posts, which in the past two years have completely lost their funny and even the ones with potential are just ignored, and participation here means participating in a political b1tch fest. And there is something about the climate here that entices users like Little Rusty to sign up and spew his idiocy and BudBro to go on his conspiracy rampages. They wouldn't do it if they felt it wasn't welcomed here and I'm sure RP's 12 Obama sux posts a week contribute to the general climate of this place. The few active posters left here want to make this place a political Obama sux/rox fight. That's great. If there were anything else to read or anyone else with a semblance of humour posting. So, like I said, I'll check in from time to time, but I am not going to make a habit of posting in the Geek Club anymore. Because it really isn't entertaining. And I'm just speaking as someone who has been here for less than 2 years. Isn't that nuts? I mean I've only been here less than 2 years and I've seen this place degrade. First off, the poster who took over your name, was humorless. It was dumb as opposed to funny. He put no thought into your bored suicide. It would have been easy for him to lay out some funny scenario that could have suxxed the bored in with a riveting story, then blow everyone away with a "fock you doooshes" type ending. I would have at least appreciated the art of the exit.

 

I'll just say the best posters who leave just leave and they maybe occasionally pop in. By not showing up as much it's already understood that they have gotten bored with the place. There are several off topic boards I frequent which are like a gazillion times better than this one. Ironically enough, those boreds are heavily moderated. IMHO there is a connection between the two. Most places on the Tubes wouldn't tolerate the handful of dumbasses we have here who post the same sh!t in a different way over and over and over again.

I get probably around 5 to 6 posts deleted every week, it's an ebb and flow process. I had one day where I got dumped around12 times. I have no idea why I haven't gotten banned yet. Maybe because I've been around a lot, have a lot of posts, contribute to the Mange Bored, and help with traffic for ad revenue; reality is I don't have the faintest idea where the line is that we can cross or not cross. I think that when somebody reports one of my posts, that is where most of the deletions happen, as other simply pass under the radar. Have I really done anything that hasn't been done before? Have the flame wars disappeared from your memories?

I've read this site (little help and main board) for a long time. I finally got around to registering because I wanted to participate in the Little Help section. I've never really read much on the geek forum because its largely flaming rhetoric and personal attacks. The funny aspects/threads get overlooked or drowned, and people eventually get tired of being shouted down and move on.

 

Any good and active forum needs a fair and effective moderator presence, not just so everyone plays fair but also so that site traffic can increase and thereby site revenue can climb. Good discussion/debate and open conversation drive traffic, and there isn't much of that here.

 

Flaming rhetoric and troll thuggery abound on this forum, and those of you who like it that way make this place less fun to frequent. Eventually that will be you're undoing.

This is precisely why boards need to be moderated, as much as we may not like it sometimes. Half the threads here, even those that have absolutely nothing to do with politics, turn into left v. right testicle-slapping contests, and it's the same handful of people doing it every time. You and I both know who they are.

 

Don't get me wrong...I'm not trying to tell Mike how to run his board. It's his and he can do what he wants with it. He (or we) simply shouldn't be surprised when people get bored (lol) with the act and seek greener pastures. Unfortunately, it's usually the quality people who do this (and 99% of the time they say nothing before leaving) which leaves us with the sh1t.

 

First of all, if you hadn't noticed, all three of the mods from the main bored now have mod powers on this bored, despite it not advertised as such. So, if for example Fumbleweed is around, he can now delete posts and such. Which is fine, I've gotten used to it.

 

I get probably around 5 to 6 posts deleted every week, it's an ebb and flow process. I had one day where I got dumped around12 times.

 

IMHO this is exactly the kind of moderation we DON'T need and is more akin to censorship (which again, while perfectly acceptable given the private nature of the site, will still kill it over time). I understand deleting posts if they are NSFW or infringe on copyrights or whatever, but just deleting something isn't moderation. It isn't addressing the problem, and it doesn't help ensure a better bored experience because there's no guarantee it won't happen again. If users don't know they're messing up and aren't told, they'll likely do it again.
