froggsnflfan53 0 Posted June 27, 2006 On my team already is Manning and Brooks, my question is should I drop Brooks for McNair? They are both new to their systems, and both have problems anyway(Brooks was a bust in NO, and McNair cant seem to finish a full season since 2003). But Brooks has Randy Moss to throw to, and McNair is reunited with Mason. thanks for the opinions.
oban14 0 Posted June 27, 2006 Tough call. I'd hang on to Brooks, personally. On my team already is Manning and Brooks, my question is should I drop Brooks for McNair? Drop Brooks, he had talent surrounding him in NO and he couldn't put it all together, OAK won't change anything. Meanwhile McNair is back on a team with Mason, has a great TE in Heap (ala Wychek) and two good RBs in Lewis and Anderson. This is the same type of cast he had when he was co-mvp. Keep McNair. Ainsley 0 Posted June 28, 2006 I'd keep McNair because he is the safe choice. Manning is a starter in fantasy leagues, so you only need a QB you can rely on as a backup. Good luck!
jabarrettsr 0 Posted June 28, 2006 I think McNair is the better qb, but I don't have faith he can make it through the season. I'd hang on to Brooks as your looking for a reliable back-up, with McNairs injury concerns as the main reason.
bdill77 0 Posted June 28, 2006 I'd keep Brooks. He can at least stay healthy. McNair is a much better QB, but not in fantasy. Brooks usually finishes decent(except for last year) and I think a change will do him good.
tampa_fan_01 0 Posted June 28, 2006 Keep Brooks, he has no one behind him, and if McNair falters for some reason, Boller could come in. Yes I just threw up in my mouth when I typed that....
Wildman 0 Posted June 29, 2006 My concern about Brooks is the rumblings that he has to earn the position. This may mean they are high on Andrew Walter and want to see what he can do. Despite the NO situation, Brooks was a much better fantasy QB than an NFL starter. If he wins the job, he's a player I'd rather have over McNair at this stage of McNair's career. Still, McNair did pretty well last year behind a poor team and remained relatively healthy. To me that means McNair has more upside. So if you are gambling on greatness, I'd take McNair and hope he puts up one last career-type of season. If you want a safer backup, you take Brooks. McNair is my favorite player, but I think in this case Brooks upside as a fantasy player is better than McNair's. McNair will have to have everything go right for him outproduce what Brooks did in New Orleans. I think Brooks has nearly as good receivers in Oakland to repeat his typical performance in 2006. gocolts 300 Posted June 29, 2006 Manning QBs very often suck the first year on a new team.Keep Manning
