Democrats 2020

Recommended Posts

Can't believe I'm doing this, but we may actually be in the shortest 'off-period' in American political history. What got me thinking was I just saw that Biden was in NH this weekend, Warren's' been doing the circuit and I'm not sure Bernie ever took time off.

Seems to me that the D may be facing the same problem; They need to come behind one candidate. They certainly have enough energy through Anybody But Trump, but that energy is going in a dozen different directions. Their choice of party head didn't do any good (who?) either.

Obviously these are my own personal feelings, but:

1) Warren - What I don't think people 'get' is, it's not about 'women' in general, but why the fock do the ones they choose have to be so GD unlikable? I'd vote for Condi Rice anytime - despite her involvement with the Bushtard administration. There's plenty of others like her - competent and likable. They keep throwing these angry school ma'arms at us - and - click!. - But she'll get the 45+ y.o. college educated woman vote.

2) Bernie - Maybe I'm just too old. Maybe he is, dunno. I think he has some good ideas, but he literally comes across as a cross between Dr. Emmett Brown and the third Statler and Waldorf (look it up). But a focking comb and comb the fock down. - But he's got the millenial vote.

3) Biden. My personal fave. More so now than ever he comes across as the Grown Up in the Room. In fact, the only real knock against him in the past has been "Oh Joe! He says some crazy things sometimes!" - Well, safe to say that Trump has buried that bar.

Unfortunately, the BLM and Pink Poosay Hat crew will likely eschew him simple because he's a white 'establishment' male. Never mind his 30 years of service or the fact that he's the most 'pro - woman' candidate out there. He's done more for issues like campus rape than any other candidate. Same too with the portability of professional licenses for military spouses. - And that's just 1% of what he's done. The fact that he's a competent non-mysoginistic, non-anti-LGBLT guy should be enough.

Honestly, if there's any hope of poaching or bringing back the disaffected educated male vote, he's the guy.

This assumes of course that Trump runs again. I'm still not sure that's a given. But that's another conversation.

The Dems have a lot of energy, but absolutely zero direction and leadership. If they could manage to bring those three (above) together (Biden POTUS, Warrren VP and Bernie Cabinet early) and avoid the destruction of the circular firing squad, would be a decent shot. But I fear they learned nothing from the past.

As weird as it sounds, I think we're almost too late to bring in anybody 'new' if they don't do it by EOY at the latest. - And can't even think who that would be. Certainly no 'magic bullets' out there.

Biden will be 78 years old in 2020 - I just don't see it. I will probably be voting 3rd party again.

Bernie and Biden - out. No desire for 100 year old relics. This party needs new blood, new life - time to move on from the past.

Who that is, not sure yet. But I know who it's not.

I think Biden will be too old. Cory Booker may emerge.

Cory Booker would ensure the Democrats lose by an even bigger margin. The dude is a POS

Yeah I think the Democrats are in a tough spot in 2020. Biden might win because he's so likeable. Michelle Obama would be a layup win but she doesn't want to run.

Warren has zero chance of winning because she so far to the left.

And I just don't think the anybody but Trump movement has enough steam especially this time around to do it.

If job growth the market and consumer confidence as well as business confidence stays high it's going to be a tough sell for Bernie to sell socialism even in a democratic form to the masses.

And I agree on Trump. Not even entirely sure he will run again. He's made a few comments last week that were not exactly glowing about this position compared to what he had.

But yeah it will be interesting to see who the Democrats put up and they're going to have to cultivate someone pretty soon and start getting them out there.

That's the problem (one of many) - who the hell is primed and waiting in the wings?

Besides, Biden (for ex) is in far better health (physically and mentally) than our

current 70 y.o. heart attack/stroke currently serving.

I could see Biden coming in promising a 1 term 'healing' Presidency or some such thing.

As far as Oprah / Cuban et al; I REALLY hope Trump landing on his face and losing his fortune (hopefully) and especially his standing will serve as a cautionary tale. If Trump's legacy is making POTUS a focking Apprentice spin-off, geesus... It's not that our country is suffering from a dearth of smart people - it's that they're smart enough to stay away from the shiit-show that IS DC.

I reviewed the candidates from the last Dem primary run - one hell of a lot of 'WHO's" and "Oh HELL NO's"

I may be in the minority here, but I'm watching real estate and I can't help but think we're headed for another 2008.

More than a few people in the know are predicting some pretty bad things coming - especially if we find ourselves with rising interest rates, mired in a trade war, and a burgeoning deficit. It just kinda has that 'feel' to it. Sure, there was a recovery, but it was like replacing your foundation with balsa wood. Only a matter of time.

- Both sides will (shockingly) point at each other, but we're still focked. We never really 'fixed' the systemic problems that led to 2008. The only real difference now, is there is a SHIIT ton of cash sitting on the sidelines.

IF all that happens, then the idea of a 'free reign' business culture will lose favor just as fast as it did in 2002, 2008. - That would be disaster for Trump, good for Warren/Bernie.

None of the above.

Id like Biden...I think he should have told Hillary to stick it and run last year. I get why he didn't...but 2020 is too late for him and Bernie.

No thanks on Warren...I don't think she can get people excited and the base on the right already has ammo to take her down (no matter how full of it is).

Now that we have our first reality TV star president I think you have to consider other totally unqualified celebrities from the entertainment industry. Like let's say The Rock wants to run. Does anybody think he actually can't beat Trump?

This is pretty much where we're at in 2017.

(Use your favorite movie trailer voice)

In a time of need. In one of the most important elections of this planets history. America turns to a familiar face. A face that for all too long has remained a silent fixture on the opposing team.

But this time....SHES switching sides.

Sarah Palin is going rogue!!

She's no longer a straw eating, moose cack sucking republican human cartoon. Now she's flipping sides to the left and bullshiiting everyone how she's going to help the disadvantaged like a true liberal. She'll spin tales to the black community how she always drinks fruit punch. Hell...she'll suddenly tell you of her Hispanic heritage.

Trump has brought us all to our knees...now let Sarah Palin get on her knees for you!

Palin 2020

Kamala Harris and Sherrod Brown are a couple lesser known that might run. Brown is pretty popular in a swing state, and has a populist message similar to Bernie. Against NAFTA, TPP, etc. Kamala Harris is basically the woman version of BHO. She's quickly moved up the California ranks, charismatic, good looking, well spoken, etc.

You guys ruling out Biden. I understand if you're saying you would never vote for someone that age.

But, from what I've been reading, Biden and his peeps are already getting started / putting out feelers.

Biden's age isn't that different from Trump's - chronologically.

Health-wise, I'd put my money on Biden.

But still, I understand what you're saying, he'd definitely need a young running mate and a strong medical record.

if Trump were impeached today. Right now. He would not even be close to landing on his face. He took down an established machine in the Clinton's. Spent much much less on his campaign. Rewrote the rules as to how to campaign especially against a woman. So far in his first days all I see is Democrats obstructing and then crowing about how he's not getting things done.

Also how is it that you think he's going to lose his wealth? The idea that he's going to come out of the white house poorer than he went in is absurd.

Eta. I voted Gary Johnson. Voted Obama before that x2. Perot x2 Nader x2 . So basically it's not like I'm pro Republican or pro Trump by any possible stretch.

Sherrod Brown has a chance as long as he distances himself from the BLM and bathroom and anti police crowd. Tough haul though.

Yeah, Trump and Ivanka have already secured great branding deals in China as a result of him being POTUS.

Not too shabby. He's also doubled up fees at his clubs and gotten a sweet deal from the Secret Service on a whole floor rental at Trump Tower.

If his tax plan goes through, the guy will save a ton of money too.

Say what you will, dude's playing the system well. It's good to be Da King.

It's feeling good to be an American again, especially after the last 16 years, emphasis on the last 8. I don't think the democrats as currently constructed can compete with that.

Retarded. If you feel any different now than you did before, it's because you have an obsession with politcs that you should seek help for.

This is what the dems should be doing right now. Find some youngish charismatic senator or rep., preferably from a swing state. Make him minority leader and leader of the opposition. Get him lots of face time. Get America used to him.

The war horses need to fall in line. We need someone who can attract people.

Obama biitch slapped the Right for 8 years, it took Hillary running to get the Oval back, they lost the Popular vote, the Right's messiah is rolling with a 40% approval rating - and all of the sudden the Left is out of touch and losing the war... Seriously, you can't make this shiit up.

I think kamala harris becomes a more viable option every day. A black woman would get two fanbases riled up to vote. The last couple of presidents have proven that its doesn't matter what you run on, its just a matter of it being a popularity contest. The Dems just trotted out the least-likeable woman on the face of the Earth...or at least in the party.

100% true. Run a retread and lose is the new political mantra which the right learned after they put up the John McCains of the world. The left is made up of radical snowflakes, minorities and outrageable feminists and these people are only inspired by something dark and new.

If Trump keeps going the way he's going, it won't matter who the Dems put up. You aren't getting reelected with a 40% approval rating.

She's not black though...

Her mother is a doctor, originally from India, and her father is economist from Jamaica.

I guess looking black will help though...
