I sign up for the max package streaming only option. Don't even need to have directv. It's 400 but if you put the credentials of a person in college it goes down to 100. Ask a friends kid or something.

That's awesome. Didn't know you could get it without DirectTV.

I never get that, but it was pretty funny when I made my call last week. Told them I was out, bill too high...yada yada yada...rep opened up my account and immediately said, yeah that is real high, let me see fix it...4 months free HBO, Sunday Ticket, 60 bucks off regular price for next 12 months. :dunno:

I'm sure I'll get focked on this....

Called last week...dude says, "Yeah I have it active and as a loyal customer there is no charge this year"

"There's no way that's possible"

"Yeah I have it here, Sunday ticket, $0 charge"

So I call back, get another agent...says the same thing.

I'll be banging that phone in September if it's not on tv, or if I see a charge. Anybody gotten it for free other than first time signup?

When they offer free hbo I just laugh. Those channels show the same crappy movies for a month straight. Totally worthless.

Yeah, I take the gift months, DVD what I haven't seen, catch up on Game of Thrones than cancel. Last time I had it, I think I saw that War Games was on for 12 straight days at different times, so I get what you mean.

plenty of free streaming pirated sites

I quit DirecTV last year because they wouldn't give it to me and were otherwise trying to fock me too hard as a "loyal customer."

I was a real ahole to them though. Sorry, I try to be nice usually but I just reach my end with the having to call every few months and do the focking bullsh1t dance.

Im awful at this.

So I call with a few beers in belly. I moved last year and ended up as a first time direct guy getting free ticket. So like usual they bill you automatically next year. My pitch was being mad that they are billing me for something I never signed up for in the first place, so I say I want that off and quickly go all in that I want to cancel. I get transfered. I give some bull about not wanting the ticket (which I do) and that Dish is more straight forward and looking into a fire stick or whatever. So I get offered 40 bucks off my bill. My bill which was recently doubled in July after I was done with my 1st year honeymoon. So to me it didn't seem that great. 128 to 88 and no ticket. When for last year I paid about 68. So I go all in saying I want out. She basically says ok and sets up a date. I'm like ok. Hang up.

How do you get more? Should I have said I want ticket but am not paying that absurd price? I went for gusto but basically told them I didn't want ticket. Which was dumb. Probably should have took the 40 off and stayed put but I hear storie of people getting so much more.

they typically either call or email after a day or so stating they want you back. sometimes it is after the disconnect.

Well Fock here we go.....just like I thought....get the bill today and there's a fat $46 charge from Sunday ticket after I cancelled last year, and after they told me it would be free.

Unreal. Pounding that phone in the morning.

I don't know if it's true or not, but I've heard a big part of it depends on what competition is being offered in your area and that depends on how low they will take off. It is cheaper for them not to send someone out to disconnect though, so wait a day or two and see if you get a call from retention. Check Comcast dish prices too and see what they offer. When I made my call, said price was too high and immediately when with "I can get all this from Comcast for 54 bucks(current best deal)..." and that's all it took for me.

I know the feeling about haggling/complaining about the prices, first few times I was pretty uncomfortable, but I approach it from a perspective that I should get the same best deal you are offering any new customer cause you don't have to come over and install anything.

Good luck.

Yeah just wait. They'll call you and/or send you some offers. I actually wanted to disconnect so I went all the way. After a while they were offering me like $200 plus all channels for $40 a month (before taxes and all that sh1t), free HD DVR, etc. But I don't think they ever threw Sunday Ticket back in the bargain.

Cack suckers. Called back and the lady said "Oh they gave you Sunday ticket MAX for free"

I'm like no...I specifically said Sunday ticket, not just the streaming.

Anyway.....got it down to $177 hbo and some sports pack for 6 months, and like $30 off the bill. Whatever....bunch of morons.

I went through the disconnect last year. They don't send anyone out to disconnect you, they just shut your access off and tell you they will send boxes to send the equipment back.

It took me 4 separate calls this year pulled out the been a customer for 18 years,I have 9 receivers with you guys,it's BS that new customers get better treatment than your loyal ones....each time they offered a discount, finally I said fock it I'll just go with DISH and watch the Redzone plus my local games.Got put on hold and they come back with free ST,HBO for 6 months and $40 off bill for 12 months.

Like Worms said this yearly dance is getting old,I figure I was on the phone at least 2 hours and still have to call back to get 6 receivers activated once the season starts.

They need a new business model.

Your options are devote hours of time and energy to haggling ~ every six months or give in to getting ass raped.

Well I don't like either one so I'm out. Can't be the only one thinking that

Pretty much agree here. I don't watch much TV at all anyway. I'd love to be able to drop TV from May to September each year.
