Old person ADD

Recommended Posts

I remember used to frustrate the hell out of me that no matter what was on TV, or even if we rented a movie that my dad wanted to see, he was good for maybe 10-15 minutes at a pop. He usually be reading the paper at the same time. And then he just wonder off and eventually come back but it would freak me out like how can you do that Dad?

But the years have gone by, and I find myself to be the exact same way.

I don't know how people do it. I actually use my phone and set like a 7 minute timer. When the timer goes off I pause the movie or TV show and go and do whatever needs to be done and then lather rinse repeat.

More often than not, I'm getting antsy before the alarm even goes off.

I tried doing that with commercials, but they just didn't come frequently enough. If I'm actually reading something? I can usually go for a lot longer. But no matter how good whatever it is I'm watching, I just have to stop and start a load of laundry or do something to the car or whatever.

Anybody else like this?

Oh yeah, that's a given. The worst part is, I still find myself taking the remote and trying to pause my laptop.

I was put ridalin in 4th grade. Not for hyperactivity, but for lack of focus by a principal who colluded with a doctor and my parents. Fawked me up. I became a zombie that needed a good Daryl arrow to the cerber cortex.

They took me off of it after six months. I went back to being ,unfocused but better focused in a strange way. Coke and uppers did the opposite for me. Never got the high my friends got. Alcohol got me high and going.

About ten years ago I started getting OCD. And it's progressively worse. If I listed the myriad of routines I have to do every day from the time I get up to the time I go to bed, you'd believe I was an old wives tale catalog. And I was adding up to two a day at one point. It keeps me focused. The opposite of ADD. I'd much rather ADD.
