Maybe the hardest I've ever laughed was during Steve Harvey's stand up in Atlanta - it was nails.

Dave Attel has perfected the stand up craft.

Some of the supposed legends that I thought were funny decades ago ... Murphy, Prior, etc. are unlistenable today.

add George Carlin and Robin Williams to that list as well. Although I never found Williams' schtick funny at all. Carlin was great at one point. Countdown to fuming edjr post in 3...2...1...

The only problem for me with Murphy is that I literally have both of his stand ups (red and blue) pretty much memorized.

It's fascinating though to see his routine and know that it couldn't possibly air these days (Phaggit werds....)

And it says a lot about our F'ed up world.

Because go back 30 years and the stuff Lenny Bruce, George Carlin said back then is tame compared to that.

Louis CK
Lewis Black

Jim Norton

Then it's just a smorgasbord of random raunchy comedy specials depending on my mood

he said unlistenable today, meaning at one point he thought it was funny and isn't funny listening to it today

what you said was Carlin was funny at one point and then his stuff stopped being funny once he started ranting.

Which is it, focker?

Eddie Izzards stand up (the one where he's in some kind of wizard drag outfit ) was literally brilliant. Based upon that, he's probably one of the intellectually smartest comedians out there. Haven't seen him since he tried to be an American actor.

Jim Jeffries has come good stuff to be sure.

Steve Martin anyone? Not a stand up specialist really but career speaks for itself. Can play the straight man and goofball with equal mastery and I pretty much love any movie he is in.

I always found him to be physically hard to watch. His bugging eyes and facial expressions, then he started doing this thing where he would make an "O" with his lips and wag his tongue back and forth really fast inside his mouth after he told a joke. The only guy who comes close is Lewis Black.
