It's not every school district. Check out see through ny. Look up the salaries for Carmel and mahopac. Get back to me. The salary you looked at doesn't take into account the pay steps for longevity. You think I'm making it up? Half my friends are teachers

Teachers in some districts in suburban ny make great money. Some as much as 150k. Most in the 125 range with a masters and longevity. Many make more.

That is an exception and not the rule as the article I posted indicated. and those are in one of the highest taxed districts in NYS. Like was said ok they make 100k a year? If they live in that area they pay inflated real estate prices and 10% of their salary goes to school taxes. I bet you the average person with a masters degree living in weschester county makes more than 100k.

 

Bottom line is the reason we see dumb teacher stories all the time is because the job attracts rather dumb people

I love being a teacher. Best job I've had by far.

 

Wouldn't do it in America though. Deck is stacked against you succeeding.

 

Hell, I make the same as a teacher in Tennessee does. With far lower cost of living.
