How long before the Pledge of Allegiance is gone from schools?

Recommended Posts

I just went to the end of year awards at my kids middle school. At the beginning, ALL people in the audience and the students were asked to rise and recite the Pledge. I know, its been attacked in the past, but I cant believe its not more at the forefront nowadays. Are there places that dont do it anymore?

Its kind of an odd thing.

We "force" (not physically, but kids who wouldn't stand for it would be shunned) kids to pledge an allegiance to the flag. Many who have zero clue what they are even saying or understand the words.

When we are older and understand...we don't really do the pledge.

Seems that a country where we are very prideful of our freedom, pledging allegiances doesn't really line up to being free.

Never did it in HS, the entire school did in together in grade school every Monday. 2 kids from a different class would be selected to lead the pledge over the PA system. IMO, that's the proper amount of patriotic indoctrination.

Agreed. I'm not sure if they still do it though...

I remember doing it as a kid in Indiana, early elementary, but not since. I am unsure if my daughter has ever recited the pledge at school. I'd have to ask her.

It's somewhere near the top of our praiseworthy cultural masters' eradication list.

I remember talking to some of my British co-workers about this. They don't even do this ever. And none of them know the words to their national anthem either. They think the whole idea of forcing the kids to do it is right up there with North Korea. From an outsider's perspective, I can sort of see that.

Taking each other out.

They were just 25 years slower.

I did it until 4th grade... My kid goes to a charter school and they do it K-12 but I don't think any of the public schools in the district do it.

Your "co-workers" are morons if they equate saying the pledge of alligiance to N Korea. Now we know this conversation never, ever took place, but good effort. But when you invent people from now on you should make them smarter.

and people wonder why my son is home schooled

This. It’s mindless, and what purpose does it serve?

It's nice to show that we are untied as a country despite our differences. That's what it's supposed to be about anyway, libtards make it about other things

Bullshit about liberals.

Its so uniting that, for the most part, only kids recite it?

We should pledge here at the GC every morning. But change the lyrics to...and to the Republicans, for which it stands...

Kids go to school to learn. It's where I learned the pledge and what it stands for.

Only libtards would have a problem that pledges a commitment to liberty and justice for all. Yeah, those are some racist and fascist concepts.

Who are we “showing” our unity to?

Forget it man. Just enjoy living here. It's the best.

Countdown until black parents start telling their kids to kneel for the pledge in elementary school out of protest.

How often do you say the pledge, and what % of kids are thinking about what the pledge means?

I was a kid when I learned it. It's said at the beginning of some fraternal organizations I belong to meetings.

Exactly. It’s mindless. A much more effective show of unity involves treating your fellow Americans with respect.

Well if it’s so damn important, why aren’t you parroting it regularly?

It's not about the kids thinking. It's about indoctrination into the cult. The cult that pledges liberty and justice for all. We must start them early.
