Funniest movie of all time

Recommended Posts

Animal House came to my mind first. All of the old school ones mentioned here, especially the Mel Brooks movies, are all really funny. The Blues Brothers fits the bill, too.

More recent movies that I found very funny were Happy Gilmore, The 40 year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, and Bridesmaids.

The Three Amigos.

Recent good ones - Role Models, Wedding Crashers, Superbad

Random - Shakes the Clown. Bob Goldthwait movie. Strange, but funny.

The Three Amigos.

Good addition. I put it high second-tier with History of the World, Animal House, Stripes, etc. If Stripes' second half was as funny as it's first half, it would be top five for me.

My top 5:

Airplane

Vacation

Caddyshack

The Jerk

Raising Arizona

Midnight Run is another that doesn't crack my top 5 but should be mentioned. Grodin and Deniro are so focking good together in that movie.

I watched The Heat last night after seeing the props here. Very funny.

Caddyshack is the answer. I'll watch it anytime it's on.

Coming to America

Dumb and Dumber

Little Big Man

The Jerk

Gung Ho

There's Something About Mary

Meet the Parents

Austin Powers II

Happy Gilmore

Spinal Tap

Best in Show

Caddyshack was good when it came out, but I don't think that movie held up that well...

Can't stand it. It's an immediate change the channel if it's on, the only part I found funny was when Jeff Daniels blasted her with the snowball, other than that, I've got nothing.

One of the most overrated movies ever.

No respect for you.

To this day, I throw salt over my shoulder and then throw the bottles if it looks as if nothing will salvage the situation our outcome.

The scene where they run over the dog to sell a car! Priceless!!!! I sold Christmas Trees as a teenager using that tactic learned from it. Put a stump log under the back of a customers car and got this pretty puppy named Claire to pretend to get run over. We'd scream "Holy Fawking sh!t.....you ran over Claire!!!!!!" The kids and mom would freak. Good times!

Jim Carrey films are not yet ready to be considered. They were wildly popular and funny when they were released. Society then goes through the normal process of rejecting him, then maybe in another 10 years, people will start rediscovering his work and call them classics. Its just too soon. Yes Man might have been his best comedy film and its only 11 years old.

He never made me laugh. Much like Robin Williams.

My favorite comedy is The Big Lebowski but its not really haha funny. I probably laughed more at The Naked Gun it The Jerk than any other movie. Young Frankenstein and Airplane are up there too.
