Guess Volty and TBBOM’s score

Recommended Posts

BEIJING (CBSNewYork) China is rolling out a high-tech plan to give all of its 1.4 billion citizens a personal score, based on how they behave.

But there are consequences if a score gets too low, and for some thats cause for concern, CBS2s Ben Tracy reported Tuesday.

When Liu Hu recently tried to book a flight, he was told he was banned from flying because he was on the list of untrustworthy people. Liu is a journalist who was ordered by a court to apologize for a series of tweets he wrote and was then told his apology was insincere.

I cant buy property. My child cant go to a private school, he said. You feel youre being controlled by the list all the time.

And the list is now getting longer as every Chinese citizen is being assigned a social credit score a fluctuating rating based on a range of behaviors. Its believed that community service and buying Chinese-made products can raise your score. Fraud, tax evasion and smoking in non-smoking areas can drop it.

Apparently they will be integrating surveillance footage and facial recognition software to track what you do and how youre rated.

Volty seems like a good little conformist. I bet he always uses crosswalks and observes all norms and rules. However he remains a foreigner so little slip ups and misunderstandings are inevitable. Ill bet hes a 7.

TBBOM wouldve had a negative rating til the little China gal sank her teeth into him. Still he has an independent and anti authoritarian streak that must manifest itself in many subtle ways. Im guessing hes like a 2.5 and would be banned from everything in China except theyll make exception for the white man. For now.

Except TBBOM is engaged to a Philipino

One positive result of this?

Chinese torurists suck. They travel in herds of 50 and are pushy and obnoxious. In Bangkok at the grand palace, some lady just outright shoved me out of the way. She was shocked when I shoved back and told her she could fock her mother, and called her a stupid kvnt in Chinese.

Soon, the worst ones will all be banned from leaving the country. Thats a plus.

My score two years ago would have been negative by a large amount.

Maybe up to a zero now. Up until recently, I pretty much smoked where I wanted (including primary school bathrooms) and would pretend I didnt know if people said anything.

Now all I do is jaywalk several times a day. That involves climbing a steel barrier, but it saves me a long walk to the corner from the bus stop. The cop out there gives me the stink eye daily. Im sure hell ticket me eventually.

using crosswalks and observing all norms and rules are mutually exclusive spheres

The norms and rules for crossing a street in China greatly resemble those for playing Frogger.

Yep. This place is pretty much chaos all the time.

Heres how it works.

They have laws. Everyone ignores them.

Three or four times a year, they decide to crack down on something. Court be illegal motorbikes, could be foreigner visas, could be hookers, who knows.

So for a month, they go around confiscating bikes, or rounding up foreigners and hookers. People toe the line for a while, and sh!t gets back to normal.

My city is doing a motorcycle (electric of course, the others are strictly forbidden) crack down right now. They park a big ass flatbed truck somewhere, pull over everyone riding illegally (90% of those riding) and take their bikes off on the truck. They go pay to get them back, and the dance goes on. Everyone is wearing helmets this month too. Last month you never saw them.

Last year they did a foreigner visa crackdown. Got asked to see your papers constantly. They raided schools to see if people had work visas. They even raided a club frequented by foreigners, made everyone p!ss in a cup, and those that failed were put in a van and soon deported.

Its just a game really.

We don't deal with that in Panzhihua. No foreigners to harass. If they did, there wouldn't be any of us here at all.

Theyve come to my house to check residence permits three times this year.

Zhengzhou was pretty easy going. They didnt have enough foreigners to give a fock what we were up to.

But this is a tier I city, and also on the Hong Kong border. And there are sh!tloads of foreigners. In zhengzhou, if I saw a white person I didnt know, I had to go talk to them, it was so rare. Here you do the bro nod and keep walking.

They should teach a class for the INS in the states on how to monitor immigrants. Yearly health checks, yearly visa hoops, constant drop ins to make sure Only the people registered live there.

On the flip side, they constantly have a big ass line at the subway, checking the locals ID. I skip that mob entirely. I like living here as a foreigner, but Fock being a local. They work a lot harder than I do for a third as much money. Fock that.
