Not that helpful. Doesn't say how many dates. But I'm sure touring is very lucrative for bands. That's why the whole file sharing thing never bothered me. They probably make as much if not more money from touring as they do from album sales.

Actually, there's a pretty legendary interview out there talking about all this. I think it was 60 Minutes or something like that that interview the Dixie Chicks when they were at the peak of their popularity and basically owned country music and pop.

 

As I recall, the interviewer had done her homework. And you sat there and watched as the band realized that they weren't getting paid anything at all for their records. The only way they personally made any money was through the touring.

 

It was basically a paradigm-shifting moment for the entire industry. In the past, you toured to Spur record sales so you'd make money. These days, you make the records to tour to make the money.

I'm not being a hater, but just to put it into perspective a little bit. The stars of Broadway shows? They typically throw 8 shows a week for multiple months at a time.

True That. But I don't know how challenging that part is. They end up having to walk about 20 steps to step on a luxury bus that's outfitted to the nines and sleep the whole way to the next venue. Probably a lot harder on the driver and the crew that has to keep tearing down and setting up then on the actual talent.
