****Official 90s Music Draft Thread**** (Complete)

Recommended Posts

1.05 - U2 - One

Not a huge fan of the band (especially later work), Bono is definitely a douche, but this was the best song of the decade (Teen Spirit being the most significant/defining song).

Nice.

I figured he would go in the first 2 rounds but not that song

That's the one that put him on the map. I was never a huge fan but the man could definitely put on a show.

He should have landed a decent spot in the 80s draft (The Dance), honestly. I think this draft is going to end up a lot more open stylistically than the 70s draft.

1.06 Friends In Low Places- Garth Brooks

Not really a big fan, but you couldn't escape this song in the early 90's.

Great song

3rd pick in the draft and I don't know the song, even after listening... this is going to be one interesting draft. :D

I'm lost. It makes me feel old. :(

For Volti

1.8 Thunderstruck - AC/DC

Nice...a song so easily recognizable by the first strum of the opening riff.

When you get the chance please post the current list on this page, so it can be updated and phone posters can see the latest picks.

Test

When I go to edit on my phone it's all in html so the spacing and color and all that stuff is in the edit box

Nearly impossible to edit via phone

1.10 Losing My Religion - R.E.M.

Not a huge fan, but it's hard to think of more than 4 or 5 tunes, that encapsulate the 90's more than Losing My Religion. The video has been ingrained into my head for the last 25 years. The dork with the little guitar thing, and the random milk jug on the window sill. Michael Stipe dancing like a spastic, with a bunch of half naked angel dudes jerking him off. With 2 Grammy's for Best Short Form Music Video and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal, it's hard to pick too many other tunes that had such an impact on the decade. I had it #3 on my board. Just behind SLTS and One.

ETA: Nice pick at 1.09... I think Jeremy is a better and more influential PJ song, than Alive. Was surprised to see Alive taken first.

Also... I poo-pooed this draft as having crappy music, but this is the decade I met my wife, married her, and had 2 of our kids. We just spent an hour at lunch going through songs and reminiscing. We are going to have a great time doing the same over the next few weeks.

my number one song, and possibly my favorite song and video of all time. The only song I can listen to all 9 minutes over and over and over. The song I would have taken number one overall, despite the fact that I am not really a Guns N Roses type of guy

1.11 November Rain - GnR

Agree to disagree

Whole album is amazing. Alive was the first single. Jeremy got alot of attention due to the video and subject, but might be my least favorite song on the album.

In 91, I went to see RHCP, Smashing Pumpkins, and Pearl Jam. Didn't know SP or PJ. Got in a bit late and only saw PJ close with War Pigs. Pumpkins were good but they were tripping. A week later I saw the Alive video for the first time.

If I recall from your age you were in middle/high school for most of the decade, so... hopefully she taught you well #youtoo.
