Mike Honcho 3,940 Posted February 7, 2017 Pete Carroll was ONE play. Quinn took an entire quarter and focked up at LEAST 6 times. What's funny is that Quinn was the defensive coordinator for the 'Hawks when Bevell called stupid pass against Pats. Now he's head coach when his Shanahan decides to get cute and start passing on 2nd/3rd down when two runs and FG probably wins him the game.
TD Ryan2 314 Posted February 7, 2017 That's what it is. Atlanta should never have given the Pats the openings they did, but it's not like the Pats didn't capitalize. this concept of capitalizing on opponent's mistakes is a HUGE part of what's made NE so great for so long. you look back through the years, starting with The Tuck... and NE almost always plays close-to-the-vest... waits for their opponent to make a mistake (physically, mentally, emotionally) and they pounce. And for NE to be this it takes discipline... preparation... situational football and it's part of why fans outside of NE just can't ever get their heads around NE's success... NE isn't always the biggest, strongest, fastest, flashiest, highest paid, etc... but they are always prepared, disciplined, and they don't beat themselves... in fact, they wait for you to beat yourself. Even crazier, heading into next year - NE will have about the 3rd most cap space to play with. Something like $67m or so.

Quinn also should have had some counter ready when they started going through White so much, since they did the same thing with Vereen against the Seahawks. edjr 5,444 Posted February 7, 2017 Julio Jones made one of the greatest most unreal catches in SB history, that should have ended the game (matt ryan made a great throw too) Up 8 with Atlanta - 1st and 10 from the Pats 23 with 4:40 to go. Toss to Freeman, loses 1 yard 2nd and 11 (snap the ball with 5 seconds on the play clock) SACK for a 13 yard loss. pats call Timeout 3rd and 23 with 3:50 on the clock from the pats 35 Ryan in the shotgun, 5 WR's. HOLDING on O line. 3rd and 33 from the 45,. 3:44 remaining. Matt Ryan incomplete WHAT THE FOCK WAS THAT???????????????????????????

Something like $67m or so. they are in great shape Cruzer. like most teams, their cap situation and talent level will wax and wane a bit... but all that stuff I posted about on capitalizing on opponents mistakes remains... so for NE, their floor is always pretty low... on a down year, they make it into the post season and maybe get lucky... on up years, they win 14 games and are a SB favorite. If I was Quinn I would have gone all Lou Brown on him; "Nice throw Ryan, don't even focking do it again."

It's a beautiful thing to be able to say every year, you have no salary cap problems, and you draft well. I remember when Seattle had to give Wilson his big contract, every single person on the football board said they were now done. Here it is 2017 and our biggest named free agent is backup tight end Luke Willson, and yet we're 27 million under the cap. A properly run front office is the ultimate key to success. TD Ryan2 314 Posted January 22, 2018 meh. Pats win. ATL is 8-8 next year, misses playoffs, and Pats are in SB again. 5 SBs, 7 SBs, 9 SBs... whatever - it's absurdly dominant. meh. Pats win. PHI is 10-6 next year, knocked out in the first round and Pats are in the SB again. 7 SBs, 10SBs, 12 SBs... it's beyond absurdly dominant
