Season Discussion

Recommended Posts

Almost there, folks.

-Tampa having trouble keeping pitchers healthy. Cobb, Smyly... thats on top of the rehabs of Jake McGee and Matt Moore. Other than that, i've been alright. Going to be a year, I think, where I am add/dropping a lot of exclusives for my rotation. I know some of you guys do this annually. I had the luxury of never really having to but that won't be the case this season, which is why I am thankful we have switched to same day add/drops as I really can't keep on top of the rotations.

-Verlander started off alright, then got rocked in a few outings, then hurt his triceps. Sounds like he will be alright but with the way Tanaka is pitching (the other risky pitcher I was considering), I am definitely wishing I rolled the dice with him over JV right now. You never know when that UCL will go for Masahiro but you never know if JV is going to just fall off the face of the planet. :dunno:

- i actually like my hitting depth even though I don't have much star power after Abreu (and maybe Longoria)

looking forward to a fun season!

Kimbrel's value just shot up some more.

ah fock. i saw maybin and quentin were traded to the braves. didnt see it was for kimbrel and upton.

so uhh yeah wonderful. just lost my 3rd round closer pick (benoit) and upton, who might have had some sot start value when he came off the DL will now be buried.... i waive the white flag.

Finding out Aaron Hill will not be a regular starter certainly hurt my roster depth. Maybe Travis can stay hot a few months.

a week ago i thought i might have 3 closers for at least a month (peralta)

now i might have 0 all season if the rays truly use multiple guys in the role.

on the bright side i should have a fock ton of holds

Nice start. Fock Ervin, hopefully be a nice boost in the second half as I really can't afford to drop him and will have to burn his roster spot till then

My season may be over already. After losing Lee I was already thin at starter. Now Carrasco, my no doubt #2, takes a line drive off of his face.

well, while Verlander sits on the DL, I dont lament passing on Tanaka. I do, however lament passing on Votto even though I drafted Abreu in round 1. Prudent move after trading up probably would have been grabbing Tulo, followed by Votto. Oh well, hindsight and all that.

Feel like im starting off strong behind Price, Shields and Kazmir... and the rest of my pitching staff which should be at full strength by the end of April with Verlander, Cobb and Smyly back in the fold. Solid bullpen with Boxberger and Peralta picking up saves for the time being and benoit and wade davis good for holds. still sucks that my 3rd round pick is a holds man now. But the rest is smoke and mirrors. Not sure my offense can keep up with Abreu, Longoria and a group of misfits. Can zobrist keep it up? Jennings finally living up to his billing? Kiermaier? Will Vogt be a steal of a catcher eligible player? guess we will see.

ill probably be in the market for a big hitter and a closer at some point

Davis is the closer for the next couple weeks with Holland on the DL

yeah. i might be able to do some damage in saves the next few weeks with Davis and it looks like Peralta is the unquestioned man in dodgerland.

Marlins just took the last few days off, I guess.

That is what I am hoping... I know this weekend was extremely busy for me and I barely had five minutes to get online to set my lineup...

Mark Melancon - Probably my biggest surprise win here, did not expect him to fall to the 5th round at all

I wonder if bbascom is having second thoughts on this "win" at the moment?

does anyone else HATE yahoo? i can never use it on my phone. even in full site mode, i cant change my lineup or make add/drops. i click the buttons to move a player and nothing happens. i touch and hold and it opens their damn player page. maybe randomly after 50 taps the player will activate and i can move him but good luck tapping the guy you want to replace him with......

is there a yahoo fantasy baseball app?

I was having that problem too, but then I switched it to "Classic Mode" (as opposed to Swap Mode) and it worked a lot better.

Yes... Always switch to classic mode, there are definitely less problems with it over swap mode...

You dictate on when to save the lineup...

On the computer, it is to the bottom right below the pitchers... It says:

Roster Edit Mode: Swap Mode Classic Mode

You might have to change it on the computer for it to be used on the phone... I don't know, I don't have a smartphone and I set my lineups via the computer...

with a bum 2nd round supplemental pick and a ton of injuries early on, I have no idea how im keeping it up. fantasy baseball viagra i guess.

im short handed Verlander, Cobb, McGee, Jaso, now Zobrist and Peralta and just recently got Smyly back.... really regret not taking Votto in round 2 but ive probably mentioned that half a dozen times.

my team has no pop. middle of the pack in runs, rbi, sb and walks. Pitching is carrying me... plus a little bit of luck

fwiw

im throwing JP Howell (holds), Nathan Karns/Jeremy Hellickson/Roberto Hernandez (pitching depth), John Jaso (on 15 day DL but catcher eligible for anyone needing a 2nd catcher) on the trade block. I have a lot of depth and I know some teams are lacking it..... Looking for a hitter and obviously willing to package a hitter in return.... with the exception of Abreu, Longoria and Vogt.

Looks like I lost a closer for the season in Ottavino... now Walden has a "barking shoulder". Running out of relievers quickly.

**Trade**

between Rays and Astros. Details still being worked out but JD Martinez will be sent to the Rays. Trade was contingent on Roberto Hernandez being moved to the Astros in time for sunday's start.

so Kevin Cash pulling Nate Karns after 5 innings of 2 hit, shutout ball and only 66 pitches thrown..... what did that cost me?

directly cost me a QS and half a point. Indirectly cost me a win and potential save opportunity for Boxberger and another half point. Making matters worse? The winning orioles pitcher earned that win for my Rangers opponent.

I understood pulling Colome after 5 innings, dude was making his first start. Ease him back into action. Karns had averaged 100 pitches over his last 4 or 5 starts. Where is the logic?

Good luck lambert my man. Just realized we are squaring off for (likely) 1st place. First place after week 5 is pretty much the title, I think :dunno:

Dang Pal, that was nip and tuck. I'm thinking we call this thing now. 5 weeks does seem like long enough for the season. Best of luck the rest of the year!

Woo, going to fight hard for the bottom spot. Hell, Kluber is giving me an 8 inning 18 K masterpiece and it won't help me win a single category this week.
