Joe Namath. If not most overrated, at least he is one of the worst HOF'ers of all time

This is the answer. No need for any more replies.

Maybe not #1 but I'd like to add Jim McMahon and Brian Bosworth to the conversation.

Has to be Gronk. They never seem to miss a beat without him.

If Marino and Elway, sure why not?

I'd say Jerry Rice too

9 times 1 and done in the playoffs.

No one has done less with more than Peyton.

sorry

do you know what overrated even means?

have a higher opinion of (someone or something) than is deserved.

Anyone (me) saying he wasn't good?

So he's not the second greatest QB of his era? More with less? He had to overcome Dungy and his usually horrible defense. Get a clue.

Who is P Manning being rated over? If he's overrated, who's getting the snub?

Shinebox alert: Patriots without Gronk 14-5. And I'm betting a couple of those games were basically forfeits at the end of the season.

4-2 in the playoffs. I like my shoes to have a high gloss shine.

The two most overrated moments are Namath's guarantee (he didn't really make a guarantee and was just responding to reporters) and Elway's helicopter play (wow, he ran for a 1st down and didn't fumble).

They are what, 13 and 6 without Brady? Another overrated stiff.

Most overrated play in football history, any level.

NFL owners are that dumb. Draft a guy #1 overall for 1 hit

Joe Namath was the firrst QB to throw for 4K yards. In 1967, 14 game schedule. Just sayin. He is overrated, just not the most overrated.

It's all the off the field sh1t that makes him overrated and the fact he's in the HOF is a joke.

in all seriousness, who is your answer?

I'd have to think about it, but off the top of my head, and only using players who are considered great, I'd have to say Barry Sanders. Jason Witten will get in the hall because defenses didn't bother covering him. Drew Brees. Bettis might be the answer though.

There are so many.

Tony Romo

Herschel Walker

Jerome Bettis

Barry sanders? Jesus Christ..

Too many negative plays, didn't block or catch, came out at the goal line. No thanks. Great fantasy player though.

He averaged more catches per game than Smiff did in his career.

But the narrative is Smiff is some complete back and Barry couldn't catch a cold.

Lets not review facts though.

Smiths team was winning most of the time. Those teams tend to throw less

So lets just put down every great player who hasn't won a ring in the overrated section. Should make this thread easy.

Barry's worst YPC average for a year (4.3) is higher than Smiff's career average of 4.2.

Smiffs career yards per reception 6.3 to Barry's 8.3.

The guy only ran laps around him in the pure ability to gain yards on a worse team but no way is he a better player than Smiff. Smiff was a tough MFer that is for sure. But Barry was clearly the more talented RB. I have already been over this before here where the stats and actual history of it is different than the easy label of "oh barry didn't catch" "oh barry came out at the GL" "barry went backwards"

Not sure about coming out at the goal line either, he had 99 career rushing TD's. And even if he did come out at the goal line, if Sanders got you 80 yards of the drive but not the last one, does it matter who scored the TD,.

I said Bettis and Brees. Both have rings. I watched Barry play his whole career. He came off the field a lot when his team was in passing situations. You know, when blocking and catching were needed.

And I'm not trying to say Emmitt sucked or is big time overrated. I think enough people sour on him that he is not overrated. Of course his career accomplishments and wins are better than anyones.

But Barry is the Randy Moss of the RB position. I'm not sure if Emmitt is the Jerry Rice however.
