Why Aren't Auction Drafts the Norm?

With all the "Drafting from the X spot" strategy posts you would think that they would be into FF enough that they would prefer the depth/strategy of auctions.

Why Aren't Auction Drafts the Norm?

As far as being "too complicated" ... I like to think of it as added depth and strategy which makes the game more fun, increases the skill involved, and decreases how much of a roll luck plays in winning. Not "spending all your money early and ####ing yourself" is part of the increased skill and strategy ... more skill and less luck is a good thing. The NFL is only drafting rookies, when they acquire free agents its more of a bidding/auction system ... and I am all for leaving the NFL type rookie draft in place in dynasty auction leagues. I agree if you are in an established league it is probably very difficult to switch to an auction format ... My original post would probably be more applicable to start ups; especially dynasty start ups.
  4. I was looking around the web at Average Auction Prices and the amount of info out there is still miniscule compared to info related to snake drafts and ADP, and auction prices for start up Dynasties is non-existant. I started playing auctions a couple years ago and every year the amount of draft leagues I join decreases. This got me wondering why arent auctions gaining popularity faster, after my first year playing them I was hooked and assumed they would quickly become the standard for competitive FF leagues, especially for dynasty. I am curious as to peoples ideas as to why auction drafts have not became popular faster? And to people who still only(or mainly) play in snake draft leagues why you prefer them to auction leagues?

    Early keeper questions

If you already knew this was the wrong board; then why did you post it?

    Patriots

I don't hate the Patriots .... but most of their fans are getting the well deserved reputation as obnoxious blowhards(just look at the statement ... "best offense in NFL history" ... that started this thread(or the countless others) for proof of this)

    I still think Turner is worth a 1st & 3rd pick

I am glad it is only Michael Turner being "overrated" ; and no one is over hyping a bunch of rookies ... because we all know first round rookies never bust. And I am sure that every rookie RB that gets drafted this year will be good enough that they will be tendered at a 1st and 3rd when they are an RFA! :sarcasm:

Oh good now we can get some exageration as well .... I have posted the same question on ONE other message board(FantasyFootballCafe if anyone cares) ... I didnt ask the question in order to help me form an opinion(If you read my question my opinion is obvious), I didnt ask for other peoples opinions on my stance ... If you read the original question I asked what others had done in their league to address the situation. My "lunacy" has been in response to people making smart ass comments.

I have never had as many issues with yahoo as I have had this year. This is a keeper league and I will definitely be voting for relocation next year.

I think most people who answered in this thread, are against me because they own Colston and are using him as a TE. I would have let it drop after the links if a smart ass hadnt jumped on here. The bye week was important because some people I have talked to elsewhere are using the bye week as a cut off for his use a TE, figuring this will be the most fair to everyone involved since another te would have to be picked up for the bye week There is a difference between being competitive and wanting to win and winning at ALL costs, these are the same typepeople who think trading players during bye weeks, exploiting software glitches, and other such ###### is perfectly fine. I play FF because I like football, FF makes the games more interesting, for competitive fun, and I enjoy gambling. I am on this board because I enjoy FF, not to post smart ass comments ... I hate seeing the rate my team, rate these players, should I make this trade threads ... but I dont have to post a smart ass comment on each one ... I just dont open the thread. Why are you here? Just to make smart ass comments and add nothing intelligent to any discussion.

I think that is a good compromise(he keeps his eligibility as long as he isnt removed from the TE position), I would not be opposed to something like that. That is the reason I asked the question to see how it was being handled. The topic was not late in relation to his bye week. Shows your lack of reading comprehension, and the fact that you have to win FF at all costs, indicates that you are probably a loser in most other aspects of your life.

How is that constructive? Go post on one of the endless ... should I make this trade, rank these players, should this trade be vetoed threads ... all of which I have seen many more times then this one.
