Fake news?

Recommended Posts

Just to add a bit more intrigue to the draft..........like I say, I can't tell when this stuff is even real anymore let alone whether this is another draft sabotage attempt or real news. Any homers or anybody else have any additional color?

There is a video of a news report that will play with the link

http://www.cleveland19.com/story/35212753/projected-top-nfl-draft-pick-accused-of-sexual-assault-at-downtown-cleveland-hotel

"CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Just days away from the NFL Draft and a first round hopeful has been accused of a sexual assault.

According to a statement from the player’s attorney, Kevin Spellacy, he acknowledges police are investigating the accusation. No charges have been filed against the player.

Cleveland 19 is not naming the player at this time, despite having a statement from his attorney.

Spellacy says his client was in Cleveland with a group of friends and had met a 23-year-old woman in Cleveland’s Warehouse District, at the Barley House on April 8. The next morning, April 9, around 3:50 a.m., an off-duty police officer called for police and EMS for an alleged sexual assault victim at the downtown Westin Hotel, according to EMS and police dispatch. Officers and EMS arrived on scene, took statements, and the woman was transported to a local hospital. The player was not there when police arrived.

It's been two weeks since the alleged sex assault took place.

CBS Cleveland 19 has asked for the Cleveland police report multiple times, and has been given no response as to why an initial or completed report isn’t available nearly two weeks later. Our team was first told to contact Cleveland Sex Crimes, then was referred to Chief Calvin Williams. In compliance with Cleveland public record retention policy, our investigative team formally filed several record requests. Cleveland Public Records told Cleveland 19 in a response to our request for the incident report that they were waiting for the report from police.

What’s the delay with filing the report? We’ve learned that the player himself will come to Cleveland and provide a statement to police after the NFL Draft, according to Spellacy. So far, Spellacy has provided the Cleveland Police Department with one of three statements from eyewitnesses, which, Spellacy said, show the accusations are unfounded.

Are Cleveland police dragging their feet filing this report to help the young man get drafted into the NFL? We visited Cleveland police records and found an unrelated rape report already on file that occurred the same day as the player in question’s case.

The difference? The case that was filed doesn’t involve a high-profile suspect with potentially millions to lose."

Kudos for the woman to act when the assault happened instead of waiting. My guess is this 1 is real as the evidence would of been collected at the hospital.

seems real but if am honest I don't see a kid who is in the draft being protected that much, if he was on a roster maybe I mean In that case the police would have an arrest warrant out for the player if he had refused to come to make a statement not just accept that it can all wait a few weeks

regales if its for a sports draft or not.

it seems like the report dosent seem to have much on the player. I mean they talk about the players Lawyers but not the girls who I assume will be putting a lot of pressure on the police also to act.

the other option which am sure we all hope it isn't, is that the girl isn't being fully truthful or maybe she is but either way knows once he signs a nfl contract and gets paid there is more money for any pay off / law suite, unfortunately it happens in the world we live in now.

if it is all true and police are dragging their feet and the player is free to wait after the draft before answering for his crimes then hopefully It all comes out soon and he faces everything that is coming to him including no NFL dream

Sounds like dubious TMZ-type crap to me.

If no charges have been filed, what the hell would be the point of publicizing the player's name?

If there's a problem, I'm pretty sure it lies with the wannabe 'investigative' news outlet. I'm also pretty sure that, if they truly wanted to investigate something significant, there is a plethora of other subjects to explore.

Speaking of TMZ, just now breaking "exclusive"...............about all that draft CB depth...............

http://www.tmz.com/2017/04/25/nfl-prospect-gareon-conley-accused-of-rape-denies-allegations/

"GAREON CONLEY a projected 1st round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft -- has been named in a police report by a woman who claims he raped her in a Cleveland hotel but he adamantly DENIES the allegations.

The 21-year-old was a superstar cornerback at Ohio State University and draft experts say he could be taken as high as #10 in the draft on Thursday.

But according to a police report filed in Cleveland, and obtained by TMZ Sports, a 23-year-old white female told police Conley violated her in a hotel suite bathroom at a Westin hotel on April 9.

According to the report, the accuser says she met Conley in a hotel elevator around 3AM and brought her back to his hotel room. She claims Conley asked her to have a foursome with another friend of his and a woman. The accuser says she declined and offered to watch the other couple have sex in the hotel room bathroom instead.

A short time later, the woman says Conley unbuttoned her pants and began to have sex with her. She claims she said, "No, stop, it hurts!" but he kept going until he finished. She says Conley then kicked her out of the hotel room.

The woman called 911 and described her assailant as a "black male who wouldn't take his sunglasses off and had an Ohio State tattoo on his left forearm."

The woman says she went to a local hospital where a rape kit was administered.

An officer tried to speak with the accuser at the hospital but she refused to do an interview. Instead, she told the cop she wanted to go home and "that her dignity was stripped from her in a matter of minutes." She refused to speak to cops after that.

As for Conley, two of his friends who were in the hotel room were interviewed by police and told cops Conley never hooked up with the woman and that she was just mad that she got kicked out of the room.

One of Conley's friends said the two had been lying on the bed together "but nothing happened."

Conley was not in the room when police arrived and his friends said they did not know where he went.

Conley's attorney spoke with Cleveland19 and denied the allegations calling the accusations "ludicrous and ridiculous."

Cops are investigating but so far no arrests have been made and no charges have been filed.

We spoke with police who tell us the results from the rape kit are not in at this point. The sex crimes unit is now on the case."

Doesn't this sound a little bit like the Ezekiel Elliott case?

Ohio State player getting ready to enter the NFL.

Accusations from a woman, witnesses say nothing happened.

No charges filed, yet.

Maybe it's a coincident but it's odd.

If he's guilty then obviously he deserves to be prosecuted but if not, something fishy going on around Ohio State.
