Should have prayed more before he was decapitated.

Exactly. If prayer actually works why not just pray nothing bad ever happens to your son?

I read he got caught in the netting and his death was graphic.

As soon as that thing went up, people were saying a matter of time before someone gets killed.

Didn't take long.

Because "god has a plan" and it is "god's will."

Which would kind of imply that prayer is a waste of time, if he's gonna do what he wants anyway.

Also implies god is kind of a d!ck.

Be interesting to see how that happened. If you YouTube there's some first-person views of the ride it looks like it would be hard to actually catch your head in the netting to decapitate yourself. Pretty small holes.

I watched too and am thinking maybe he bounced and caught his head or neck on the hoops that hold the netting??

Yeah we had a story here in Iowa where two teenagers were on four-wheelers riding in the country. A tree just happened to fall as they rode by and killed both of them. And the family with a straight face got in front of cameras and say it was God's plan. I'm like what the f***? God's plan was having your child horrifically impaled and killed by a falling tree in the most painful way possible?

That always infuriates me. I heard a guy at work one time. His infant daughter died. SIDS I think. He said "It was God's will."

Fock that. What kind of Stockholm Syndrome is that?

People just don't want to believe that the universe is a random place full of random dangers. For some reason, they are more comfortable with the notion that some omnipotent being has a master plan to kill children, destroy cities, etc.

Personally, if that is God, fock him. Fock him right in his divine earhole.

It's crazy. Always have this discussion with my mother who is religious. I said "So you're telling me I can do everything in my life right help out the disadvantaged and lead a good wholesome life but if I don't submit to the Lord I will not go to heaven?

No.

But someone can go out and Murder 10 people go to jail miraculously find Christ and submit to him and he goes to heaven?

Yes

yeah you can keep religion.

I hear ya.

I struggled with this for many years. I was raised Christian. in my late teens, I struggled with the utter illogical nature of it all. In my early twenties, I realized that even if you could prove beyond a shadow doubt that Christianity was legit, it repulses me, and I want no part of it.

Here in China, there are a lot of rules for foreigners, especially as I work for the government. Many of them, nobody gives a sh!t about. One that they do is "no evangelizing." Last time I was in the local police station for my periodic bullsh!t session, they asked me what religion I am, and if I feel the need to spread it. I laughed, and told them I am no religion, and that is one thing the absolutely don't have to worry about. This is one American who has no desire to spread the word. I had a coworker get denied an extension on his visa last year because he was distributing tracts and having prayer meetings. They don't give a fock if you do so with other foreigners... but don't be corrupting the locals.

It's the kid's fault. The ride was specifically labelled for those 14 and over.

He was ten

Probably pulled the whole "my Dad's a state lawmaker!" line.

I mean, I know kids like waterslides, but still, they have to keep their head about them

That's all well and good until someone sneezes.

I use god dam it and Jeebus focking christ all the time. Some things you just can't shake, no matter how much you don't really believe.

Nah, the guy who got in trouble was an ordained minister that was basically running a church out of the apartment the government provides as part of his compensation. That's pretty clearly a no no.

Now, "no excessive drinking" "no overnight visitors" and "ten o'clock curfew?" Those rules everyone ignores.

We're talking about a guy that created man, just so he could kill them all in a flood. Not exactly father of the year material.

So the kid like caught air off the ramp, the harness broke and he flew into a net and it took his head off? Really hope someone caught it on video. It will pop up in my r/watchpeopledie subreddit promptly with any luck.

true can't expect a 10 year old to be very Headstrong on a Ride Like That. :)

After some time passes, I bet his brothers goofy face souvenir picture will finally be appreciated, decapitated brother behind him or not.

Whenever things like this happen I can't help but wonder if the decapitated body wandered around clumsily looking for the head while a geiser of blood spurted from the neck stump onto the faces of screaming children? :dunno:

If it was a Muslim kid the religion haters here would be having a moment silence.

I'm surprised you didn't accuse the the slide of being Muslim, given their penchant for decapitation.

Bummer they shut down the ride, but I guess he wouldn't have been tall enough to ride it again anyway.
