Sho Nuff 719 Posted September 4, 2018 Brooks or Asics are pretty much all I buy for myself. I do buy Air Jordans for my son's basketball, because I think it;s their best product. 90% of the sports clothing we wear is UA, mainly because my son's school it tied to them. Kevin Plank quit one of Trump's business boards, at least in part because of his concern about backlash. I was disappointed in that, but I still buy his stuff. Brooks Asics and Mizuno have been my go to for running shoes and ended up just shoes to walk around it. Comfort and they tend to last longer than others (and the others UA, Nike, and Adidas went to so much foam or very thin rubber bottoms that don't last). I probably have a tiny bit more Nike shirts than UA...but typically just buy what I find at TJ Maxx or Ross for myself and my son and daughter. or what Academy has on sale (and their own brand I buy a lot too). No need to spend a ton on stuff that will just get sweaty and nasty pretty quick anyway. Target had a few that were this very thin and light stretch material that were super comfortable...have 2 of those shirts but I have not found any more of them. Thank you, as I was making a joke implying you only had use for a comfortable work shoe, and never for an athletic shoe. 2. You think Nike's are a black thing and/or fashion thing? I'd get that about Yeezy's, but Nike?

KSB2424 3,082 Posted September 4, 2018 As a general rule I do not "not consume" items based on politics. Shiit, half the bands I like are hippie liberals. I always thought it dumb that some people stopped eating at Chick-Fil-A for example because they have so-called "Christian" values. If they make a good sammich I'm going to eat it. If a band makes music I like, I'm going to listen, if a comedian is funny.....I'll watch. Same with Nike. If I'm at a golf store and I see some Nike golf shoes I like I'll buy them. To be honest if I didn't it'd be more because they pay 3 bucks an hour to kids in sweatshops to make them than some Just Do It ad.

cbfalcon 824 Posted September 4, 2018 Honest to God, I just want this blankety-blank to go away. Fuucking die already. He can't go away and won't ever. Why? Because if he does, the President will do a victory dance (as he already has about Kaep not being signed) and half of America will brag about how they made him irrelevant and claim victory.....Well the other side of the Culture War isn't going to let themselves get made fun of and let the President call them losers, so they are going to fight to keep Kaep around. This is where we are now.

Kaepernick probably feels more of a personal connection to the issues facing black Americans than the issues facing Indonesian kids. 2. Kaepernick isn't perfect. 3. Anyway, at first I thought: why would Nike pick him as their poster child for the past 30 years? Then it dawned on me that bad publicity is better than no publicity from a marketing perspective (usually), and had they picked ohhhh.... MJ or Bo, we'd have all nodded our heads and moved on. vuduchile 1,941 Posted September 4, 2018 I saw online that some people are boycotting Nike and going with Converse. Years ago, Jesse Jackson was upset with Nike and calling for a boycott, so Phil Knight agreed to meet with him and John Thompson from Georgetown . After the meeting, Knight was questioned by the press and he commented that he knew the meeting would go well since Jackson was wearing Cole - Haan shoes. Cruzer 1,992 Posted September 4, 2018 A 3% dip, that's all? The way some are carrying on with all the sensationalism, you had thought it dropped 20%. Given the grand scale hot topic button this Kap biz is and given the divide power it's had so far - I would have expected a more dramatic fall than just 3%,... Wall street is still a White man's world, to not expect some kind of knee jerk reaction is naïve. Yes Nike will lose some sales from certain consumers, but Nike will also garner a push form other sectors.. For the most part - I doubt most really give a shiit who Nike puts on an ad... Stock prices don't tell the true story - we won't know the true impact until we see merchandise sales... That will be the real story.

The only draw of that demographic is what they buy their kids...how many will follow through when little Johnny needs new shoes. The majority of stockholders are not individuals who are going to sell because they're pissd. The majority of Nike is owned by financial institutions, which aren't going to sell shares because of news like this, unless they think the news is going to hurt earnings.
