Fenn's Treasure claims 2nd victim

Recommended Posts

Police in New Mexico recovered the body of a Colorado pastor who disappeared searching for buried treasure. The fortune, hidden in the Rocky Mountains, has lured many treasure hunters. Paris Wallace may be the second person to die in the search.

Millionaire Forrest Fenn hid that treasure in 2010 in a chest containing gold coins, precious metals and other artifacts. Its exact dollar value is not known -- some say millions. Fortune hunters have since put themselves in harm's way. The remains of 54-year-old Randy Bilyeu were found in July after he went looking for the treasure along the Rio Grande.

In this latest case, Wallace's car was found near the Junction Bridge in New Mexico. Police say receipts in his vehicle indicated he'd purchased rope and supplies at a local store. Wallace told family he was searching for buried treasure north of Santa Fe. But when he failed to show up last Wednesday, concern grew. A torn rope was located a short distance from the vehicle. It had been stretched across a Rio Grande tributary. A body was recovered downstream from Wallace's car.

What's Fenn's Treasure?

Forrest Fenn is a successful art dealer in New Mexico diagnosed with cancer in 1988. During his illness he decided to hide treasure for anyone to find. He filled a chest with rare coins, gold nuggets, gemstones, jewelry and a jar containing his autobiography. His intention was to hide the treasure chest and end his life nearby.

However, he survived cancer and waited until he was 80 to hide the treasure. Fenn revealed the chest is hidden somewhere in the Rocky Mountains, north of Santa Fe and south of the Canadian border, elevation above 5,000 feet. Somewhere in Montana or Wyoming or Colorado or northern New Mexico, in the Rocky Mountain region.

Fenn is now in his late 80s. "Don't look anywhere a 79 or 80 year-old man can't put something... I'm not that fit. I can't climb 14,000 feet." Fenn has declared, revealing another clue.

We should put together a team of geeks, get plenty of rope, tools, whatever else we might need, then go over to Fenn's house and torture him until he tells us where it is.

Fenn swears nobody else knows the treasure's location and he's taking it to the grave!!!
