wiffleball 4,631 Posted September 27, 2014 So, I was pretty sick this week. I sleep a lot on my side. Now, my right arm is like totally tardized. What are side-sleepers supposed to do with that under-facing arm? Righ now, I'm jealous of that fockable one-armed shark survivor girl.

Frozenbeernuts 1,652 Posted September 27, 2014 Worst feeling ever waking up and your arm is dead and unmovable. Worst feeling is when both are completely numb. I was sleeping on my back every time that happened. Kind of odd.
OldMaid 1,838 Posted September 27, 2014 I remember once when I was visiting my grandparents, I tried taking a nap in my grandpa's LazyBoy. Both legs somehow fell asleep... When the phone started ringing and woke me up, I tried to get up to answer it. Fell flat on my face.
BiPolarBear 476 Posted September 27, 2014 Get on your side. Put your arm out in front of you a little below shoulder level. Lean back a little with your top shoulder to take pressure off the base of your bottom arm. It works.

When the phone started ringing and woke me up, I tried to get up to answer it. Fell flat on my face. In college I kept my alarm across the room, forcing me to get up. Took a nap one day but needed to be up for something so it was a short nap. When the alarm went off I lept up to get to it and made it about 2 feet before crumpling to the ground. More embarrassing I wasn't alone. Girlfriend was napping with me and roomate was at his computer
jerryskids 5,169 Posted September 28, 2014 Spoon. Or if you have no one to spon with, invest in a body pillow. Works for me when I have no one to spoon. (Mine gets a lot of use) I don't understand how spooning prevents the underneath arm from getting crushed. I do however understand how it makes you a beta male that no chick wants to be with, which is probably why your pillow gets a lot of use.
shovelheadt 60 Posted September 28, 2014 You need to roll over more on your stomach. Bering 100 % on your side is what's causing it. The arm goes under the pillow.
peenie 1,690 Posted September 28, 2014 Worst feeling ever waking up and your arm is dead and unmovable. this happened to me last night. i spent 10 minutes trying to get it to feel normal again. in my sleep haze i was like, "omg, i'm going to have to have my arm amputated because i've stopped the circulation from getting to it all night." Mookz 1,287 Posted September 29, 2014 I'm an unrepentant side-sleeper, and what I like to do is dislocate my right arm at the shoulder before bed (the space between the refrigerator and wall is good for this), then tuck it back behind my neck, parallel to the headboard. Just remember to pop it back in its socket before leaving for work in the morning, and you're all set.

So... just stick your arm out. Why does it need to be under someone's neck to not fall asleep?
KSB2424 3,082 Posted September 29, 2014 So... just stick your arm out. Why does it need to be under someone's neck to not fall asleep? Because there are other factors/physics at play. When spooning or holding another person on your side, you are sort of leaning on another object (woman) which enables you to lay your other arm over and it props you up on your side. If you just lay on your side with your under arm, and nothing to prop you up, you eventually fall over on your stomach and lay on your arm, thus having it fall asleep. Firstly, your body shouldn't be as straight as a board. Your legs should be bent a little at both the hips and knees. That will provide most of the stability you need. Secondly, your arm should bend back toward your head with your hand resting under the pillow. If there's a woman in front of you, that's even better, because maybe you can have sex with her later. IGotWorms 3,297 Posted September 29, 2014 I like to take a nice bubble bath with a glass of Chardonnay and maybe a little Celine Dion at the end of the day to unwind. I find this helps with my sleeping and also puts me in the mood for a little intimate time with my husband--er, wife I meant. Yeah, wife

WhiteWonder 2,171 Posted September 29, 2014 Thank you. Body pillows, spooning... did I log into FBG by mistake? are you too gross/sweaty for anyone to want to spoon with you? fwiw, I dont spoon with a woman unless its before/after sex. its not a "goodnight, lets spoon" deal. but ksb nailed it on the head and thats why a body pillow helps. WhiteWonder 2,171 Posted September 29, 2014 So... just stick your arm out. Why does it need to be under someone's neck to not fall asleep? it doesnt NEED to be under someones neck, just enlightening you on how spooning works since you've never done it. you could just stick your arm straight out but... as ksb mentioned, you tend to roll on it and or generally not stay on that position.
