It wasn't my intention to bust them into two brackets. Unfortunately, polls at this site max out at ten options and since we have twelve participants, finding a way around that limitation was necessary.

I was going to vote for you but I hate that stupid song "Africa" from toto. I hate everything about Africa....so I hate that song too!

I went with Ed and myself for a pity vote :(

Obviously I liked all of my songs but Voltaire's list was probably the other list I liked the most in my bracket. Nobody's list sucked. They were all good

If there's something wrong with voting for yourself, well, no matter we broke even then anyway.

You could have put an option for "My choice is in the other bracket" in each bracket, so we wouldn't need to vote for two people.

Myself and Voltemort

There is no devil music in my list. Granted, a lot of these metal bands did play around with that Satanic images and lyrics and enjoyed the notoriety it caused but I didn't like it and always thought it was a cheap gimmick. So, I didn't go there and left it out of all the songs I picked. Didn't need it.

Also thanks for the vote.

Damn, there are some really good choices there...

Have it narrowed down to two from each bracket...

Hmm...

Very nice work from all you guys...

I'm assuming you are basing this on the 5 songs you have actually heard. :)

I had to rate each team on a scale of 1-10 as there are a lot of great tunes.

Raider 7

HT 7

Vudu 9

Ed 8

Fan 7

Shots 8

My vote goes to Vudu

Cruz 8

Dain 9

Nzone 9

Sux 7

Volty 9

Titans 8

Definitely the better of the two brackets and a much harder choice. But my vote goes to Volty.

Well done to all of you. ~Sticking with this thing as long as you all did is quite impressive for this shithole.

Have to say, I'm pretty surprised that Van Halen was only picked 3 times, all from 1984. :shocking:

Fair Warning, Diver Down, & Woman and Children First all came out in the 80's from DLR catalog. 5150 and OU812 from Hagar's.

Probably not the best strategy but personally I drafted songs based on whether the artist/band was already represented.

I liked your list, just surprised that it was DLR's most popish album that was represented and two rock classics, Everybody Wants Some and And the Cradle Will Rock were skipped. Also was surprised 5150 wasn't represented either...but whatever. Fun exercise.

I was as huge a VH/DLR fan as there was.......but I did not care for the Jump album at all... I remember MTV promo'd the hell out of the "Jump" video, as a NYE's World Premier! Was a big let down after watching it. :dunno:

What, a bunch of footage cobbled from a half dozen concerts didn't blow your mind.

There could have easily been a couple more from VH, but I felt like diversity was key as well.

There are a couple of artists I wanted on my team, but their best songs were taken ahead of me, so I had to go another direction.

SRV is one example. I didnt end up with anything from him even though I could have selected Life By the Drop or Crossfire.

For some others, like Prince, MJ and U2, I waited til later and chose a personal favorite Prince song and a couple of collaborations involving those other 2 artists.

Those two songs were great but with a gun to my head I'd have to pick Unchained and Little Guitars as my two favs in that era but nothing they ever did start to finish imo was better than that first project.

I guess if I were making a list, I would have went with strongest songs first rather than diversity of artists(my votes went to the guys who I thought had the best songs). But whatever it's all fun, and I have to update my playlist now as I'm feeling a bit nostalgic.

This whole draft was a joke IMO. I get it, everyone is trying to pick their favorite obscure songs nobody gives a fock about. But there are just so many absolutely essential 80's songs missing from this list... I could make my own team out of what you all missed, that would beat half of these sad squads.

Tears for Fears - Everybody Wants to Rule the World ???????????????????????????????????????

Duran Duran - Rio ??????????????????????????????????

Bananarama - Cruel Summer ?????????????????????????????????????????????

Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun ???????????????????????????

Whitney Houston - I Wanna Dance with Somebody ??????????????????????????????

NKOTB - Hanging Tough ??????????????????????????

The Cult - Fire Woman

Starship - We Built This City

Prince - 1999

Peter Schilling - Major Tom

Men at Work - Who Can It Be Now?

Belinda Carlisle - Heaven is a Place on Earth

Crowded House - Don't Dream It's Over

Kenny Loggins - Footloose

Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse of the Heart

Martika - Toy Soldiers

The Psychedelic Furs - Pretty in Pink

Paula Abdul - Straight Up

Three is just about the most anybody got. Some artists deserved to get a spot but didn't get picked at all. Those with one deserved two, those with two deserved three. This was going through my head the whole time. The other thing I was thinking was : "Wow! Everybody is picking great!" Somehow we were picking great and leaving great songs on the board.

You know, this decade is so deep, you could go right now and take 16 songs that nobody took and come up with a list that you like better than what any of us put together. It'd look just as strong as these and be good enough that somebody else could come along and vote for it. I know I could. So much is still out there.

It was a #1 billboard hit for several months. Just to be clear... half of these songs I can't stand. But they are essential 80's tunes. At least more essential than half of nzoners squad...\

ETA: I'll be in, when you do a 90's fraft. I suck at the 70's.

If you went by chart listing, you could have just drafted off a sheet..... I based my draft on songs that most represented the 80's - to me. Which explains why I have no metal/rock songs outside of the one by AC/DC.. But even that was a staple of damn near ever ball game or bar scene growing up.

I completely remember that and thinking then the country had gone mad...such a bad song. But credit where credit is due, you made a pretty good team out of undrafted free agents(Even if you skipped ALL OF MY SUGGESTIONS).
