Regardless of what either of us believe, the result will be that Assad is out. Trump as much as warned the Russians that we are coming and they should back off, and I think they will. It's all too clean to a skeptics eye. The whole "madman" angle has been played too many times. Assad had nothing to gain and everything to lose.
