playoffs looking good - go after Gordon to have him for playoff push?

Recommended Posts

7-1 - squad is looking good for making playoffs.

Would you trade Sproles and Jarvis Landry for Josh Gordon?

PPR League (2) RBs (3) WRs (2) Flex

Left for my RB/WR I would have Demarco Murray, Marshawn Lynch, Andre Johnson, Wes Welker, Kelvin Benjamin......talent drops to players Kenny Britt esq for last spot in the (7) WR/RB positions.

Help a brother out. I'm leaning yea.

Is this a trade the other owner is willing to do? If so, I understand why you are 7-1. That is an awful trade for the Gordon owner, even if it is keeper or dynasty

I'm 8-0 and offered Big Ben for Gordon to an owner who had a QB (Ryan) on bye, and he would not do it even though he needs points now -

concern that everyone expects Gordon to return to last year's high level right away, and Josh is being valued too highly by his owners

who want a premium for sitting on him all season apparently.

Of course you do that one...you're giving him junk for a top 5 wr

I grabbed him off waivers last week in 2 leagues but if you have to make a trade it's almost the same

I would put Gordon in the WR 15-20 range until he proves he is worth more. Come the fantasy playoffs he will probably be top 10. There is still much risk associated with his return. We don't even know for sure that Cleveland will bring him back for the last 5 games. Lamar Miller is the right value for Gordon.

Don't know how Gordon could possibly be on waivers at this point.

Yes, he will be the push you need for the playoffs.

He has been practicing with the team, not coming in cold...rested no dents... gold!

I held him in all three leagues and getting ready for his help in the playoff push.

Top 5 receiver!

I know the pessimist in posters is what is causing the 'don't expect too much right away' sentiment, but I don't see it. I don't see a single reason why anyone would expect Gordon to be only average right away - do you expect that out of ANY premium player in week one?

Because that's what this is for Gordon - except that his pre-season has been 4 months long; not 6 weeks.

This guy is a WR explosion waiting to happen, and this Cleveland Browns team is BETTER than last year's.

I have him and the guaranteed zero on the bench which means I'm less likely to leaves as many points benched each week. I drafted Marshall White VJackson Crabtree and Boldin now dropped Jackson and Boldin have Beckham and Gordon. I've felt pretty good with my wr with the carousel of rb issues yet I've had combined weeks of .6 and 3.5 out of my wr and won.

He will probably come out and pull a hamstring mid 2nd qtr. I don't think you just go from practicing to week 12 without some kinda setback

In the past I'd agree about injury as players weren't allowed to be with team but this is fairly safe. Could it backfire - sure but you don't win championships playing it safe

Spot on, playing it safe is a good way to have a first round exit in the playoffs.

So expecting more than a backup one week fill in qb is expecting too much? Why do you even want gordon if you value him the same as a backup qb? It isn't the gordon owner who is off on his valuation of gordon...

What a doosh. He should just give you Gordon for whatever peanuts you are willing to throw at him.

The only thing about Gordon that he can't do with the team is practice. He's been at the team facilities and meetings however. So really its a matter of how quickly his training regiment can catch up to the vigors of NFL training. Personally I'm ecstatic about the fact that he'll be a fresh pair of legs against defenses that have played 10+ games already.

if the owner of Gordon had taken me up on Big Ben he'd have won his last 2 games vs losing them,

now he will miss the playoffs so having Gordon doesn't matter.

Regardless what Gordon does or doesn't do, sometimes you have to make sacrifices on your team to give yourself a chance to get to the playoffs.
I think some people have such blinders on about a guy who they value highly that they miss the bigger picture:

get to the playoff dance then stranger things can happen. I've traded away good value in past years to overcome byes and make playoffs

and then scrambled like last year picking up Matt Asiata who went off as a 1 week wonder week 15.

Flexibility is key.

But nobody in my league ever wants to do a fair trade, it's like they have to get a stupidly good deal at the other side's expense.

So trying to do win-win trades is too much work and ends up usually not happening.

That's exactly why there is a forum here for specific add/drop/trade questions called "A Little Help." You should check it out someday.

Great job on being able to see the future... do you have a book?
