****Official 60s Music Draft**** (Complete)

Ditto, and great song. The Monkees get a bad rap, very talented guys. Micky Dolenz was one of my idols as a kid, I brushed shoulders with him 17 years ago in an airport but didn't recognize him until he passed. :(

They have some catchy tunes. And yes they did get a bad rap.but I can't see wasting a draft spot in them.

Cuz you suck.

Ask Volty who snagged Voltaire in the history draft.

All I know is it wasn't me. I'm thinking I may know based on this clue.

I must. I told my wife I wanted the song "but there's a poster named vuduchile who I know wants it more than me. I'll give him a chance to grab it first." I was surprised you didn't snag it in round 1. You played it just right because, like I said, i wasn't waiting any longer.

Nice...2 of the 4 I had wanted last round still here. Still struggling between these two. In the end...this is a son I really wanted on my "team". Written and first recorded in the 30s...it wasn't a hit until 1960 when Ray Charles recorded it.

Video from a live version in 79 though.

5.08 For Your Love-The Yardbirds

No doubt you know all this, but for the whipper snappers who may not know this era of rock history as well:

Clapton replaced the original guitarist Anthony Topham in the Yardbirds before they really hit.

Clapton left the band in part because he felt For Your Love was too commercialized and he wanted to be a pure blues guitarist.

He suggested Jimmy Page as a replacement, but he already had a gig, so Page suggested ________.

________came aboard and eventually, so did Page, as a bassist initially, then lead guitarist when _______was fired from the band.

In 68, Page and YB bassist Chris Dreja tried to form a new YB lineup with Robert Plant and John Bonham.

Dreja decided to be a photographer, so a studio guy named John Paul Jones took over the bass.

The band headed into the studio after a brief tour overseas and were served a cease and desist using the YB name letter from Dreja.

When Page initially floated the idea about forming this type of super group years before, Moon said the idea would go down like a lead balloon.

Page changed balloon to zeppelin, and history was made.

Why do you feel free to name drop Eric Clampton,Chris Dreja, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and JP Jones but treat Jeff Beck like Voldemort?

Because Page, Clapton and Dreja have already appeared here in this draft as members of their respective bands. Up until your post here, _________ had not.

Crazy was another of those big songs that just stays great and a relevant song. Redone over and over and never as good as Patsy.

Another one off the short list.
