22.4 - Alexander Cartwright - Baseball

He created the original set of rules for what would eventually become the MLB.

kinda but not really, the game of baseball dated back to England and a game call Rounders, which became Round Ball, and eventually named Baseball, Cartwright was credited with creating the first team, even though he wasn't even considered a founder

It's my turn. I have three picks. I'm not ready to make them right now. I'd gotten sniped and it threw me for a loop and I scrambled for a replacement last time to keep the draft moving and, as you can see, focked up.

One of the picks will be John Dewey. I'll get the other two shortly, I'm still trying to do other things.

21.1 - John Dewey - Educator

John Dewey (1859 – 1952) has made, arguably, the most significant contribution to the development of educational thinking in the twentieth century. Dewey’s philosophical pragmatism, concern with interaction, reflection and experience, and interest in community and democracy, were brought together to form a highly suggestive educative form. John Dewey is often misrepresented – and wrongly associated with child-centred education. In many respects his work cannot be easily slotted into any one of the curriculum traditions that have dominated north American and UK schooling traditions over the last century. However, John Dewey’s influence can be seen in many of the writers that have influenced the development of informal education over the same period. For example, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX and XXXX drew extensively on his work.

John Dewey’s significance for informal educators lies in a number of areas. First, his belief that education must engage with and enlarge experience has continued to be a significant strand in informal education practice. Second, and linked to this, Dewey’s exploration of thinking and reflection – and the associated role of educators – has continued to be an inspiration. We can see it at work, for example, in the models developed by writers such as XXXX and XXXX. Third, his concern with interaction and environments for learning provide a continuing framework for practice. Last, his passion for democracy, for educating so that all may share in a common life, provides a strong rationale for practice in the associational settings in which informal educators work.

23.1 Robert Fulton - Inventor

Robert Fulton (November 14, 1765 – February 25, 1815) was an American engineer and inventor who is widely credited with developing a commercially successful steamboat called The North River Steamboat of Clermonts. That steamboat went with passengers from New York City to Albany and back again, a round trip of 300 miles, in 62 hours in 1807. In 1800, he was commissioned by Napoleon Bonaparte to attempt to design Nautilus, which was the first practical submarine in history.[1] He is also credited with inventing some of the world's earliest naval torpedoes for use by the British Royal Navy.[2]

All caught up.

I'd made a bad double-pick and hadn't done updates for a couple of pages. The first night I was tired/lazy and gave myself a break. The bad pick was a rush as lately I have had a few extra time-tax things going on at the same time that I don't normally deal with.

Still not out of the woods with these extra things, but, I'll find my way through even if short term reliability is compromised.

Nice (I honestly prefer the idea of picking a single team rather than a franchise, but not my call). Guess I'll take the best baseball player not named Babe Ruth.

23.6 - Willie Mays - Baseball

Vudu then 5 Points

We live vicariously through our presidents. Kennedy had hot women. People respect that.

Clinton was far less picky. Anyone would do. It's 3AM, he's multitasking, eating a pizza, he's on the phone placing call after call.

"Hey, I'm feeling a bit frisky, are there any women still around and awake?"

"Well, there's that fat chick in the mail room."

"OK. Tell her I want to talk to her again."

More pizza, more phone calls, now a blow job too.

Ted Williams = greatest hitter

Willie = greatest all around (average, power, speed, defense)

Other than Babe, I suppose.

24.2. Lee Harvey Oswald. Criminal

This would have been more impactful if Id had back to back picks at the turn, but here it is anyway.

I wanted Teddy Ballgame for sure. Had let really considered Say Hey Willie, but probably should have.

I have a different idea to fill out my baseball category now.

I only add Great American for his service in WW2 and Korean War.

Could you imagine Bryce Harper telling Nats he's joining armed forces for better part of 3 years ??
